Honestly, who chose the music to all the couch to 5k podcasts??! I'm on week four and although managing the running itself, just finding it so difficult to get motivated while i'm doing it. Ok so they had to cater to everyones taste but jeez there's been about one song in 4 weeks you can actually set a pace to! I find myself looking at the clock throughout the whole thing now just to get it over and done with as none of the songs are a good strong walking pace or a running pace and the week three one sounded like a theme from a Farmtown game on facebook - I actually laughed out loud and wanted to do the funky chicken dance instead of run! It's a hard old slog when your music beat is twice as slow as your running pace. Does anyone know if there is a podcast just with the ladies voice on so I can play my own music on a different device (my ipod plugs into the treadmill) but have her pipe up at the correct intervals?

Couch to 5k
Well done on reaching week 4, you made me smile about the music though! I confess to watching exercise DVDs with my own music on!
I hope someone can help you. Could you maybe just do the run without the podcast with your own music?
Hi Anna61! I like the being told what to do and when to do it aspect of the podcasts as it gives me some structure and I do hate to watch the clock all the time. At least with the podcast I just run until she tells me to stop rather than thinking oh god I've still got a whole minute left and start again when she tells me to but when you're near the end (or even just starting it) and you need a kick up the backside, playing some American teen movie ballad that nobodys heard of just isn't making me want to grit my teeth and run through the wall. Don't really want to spend the whole run swapping between music/podcast and pressing buttons etc so may just have to suck it up and do the funky chicken dance anyway but wondered how anyone else deals with the lack of beat to run to. On week 5 today of the NHS 12 week health plan along side this Couch to 5k plan, can't believe I go this far without cheating or stopping but have lost 15lb and still really motivated to continue so all good.
That's fabulous Hidden 😀🎉😀. Im going to swap your badge to reflect your success
Hello Hidden and welcome to the Weight Loss Forum
Here are a few suggestions on how to get the most out of the forum. Please note if you are using the new HU App many of these features are not available so I suggest you use the full website version.
The first place to look is at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread first and move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you. Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news
Have a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as many people have had success with it. Also use the BMI checker to find your target calories, it's important to eat enough. This was a major turning point for me, realising I could eat anything I wanted as long as the calories are accounted for. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate
The forum also have group weigh-ins every day, as well as a new Daily Diary, if you wish to take part. The posts can always be found in the Events section on the 'home' page. And if you just want to chat, to say hello or share any news or struggles then look out for What's Happening Today thread.
You'll notice a grey box next to people's names, these are achievement badges, and as a new member you have a 'Newbie' badge. We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too. If you have any questions please just ask
Best wishes
Anna
Hi, I started the C25K with Robert Ulleys's podcasts - years on and I still run to week nine three times a week The music is only about the beat. You can download them here:
Great, thank you, i'll check them out!
Hey Determined44! I love the username, really reflects on how well you're doing and how fantastic the results have been!
I had made a playlist of my most inspiration songs on iTunes, so I play that alongside the actual Couch to 5K podcast.
I also have the apple headphones so that I can change the song without having to get my phone out and fiddling around too much! (These are the headphones! amazon.co.uk/Apple-Headphon... )
Do have a look over amazon to find ones that suit you or you prefer.
Wishing you the very best, keep going!

That sounds like a good idea, never thought of headphones! Actually I bought my other half some for Christmas but he hasn't even used them yet so I may have to steal them! Many thanks!
