Morning mmm9

Welcome to the weight loss forum.

You probably lost the 1kg due to not eating normally while you had the fever and most of that loss would have been water.

Take a look at the Welcome Newbie post in the Pinned post section at the right hand side or at the bottom if your on a mobile. Have a look at the nhs 12 week plan, many members have had success following this plan. Use the BMI checker to work out your daily calorie allowance.

Have a look at the Daily Diary which you can find on the Home page in Events. It is where all the members are sharing their daily plans on what they are eating and any exercise they are doing. This thread will give you some ideas on how to start.

Below the Pinned posts are the Topics where members share a range of weight related subjects.

Take your measurements at the start together with a photo so you can see the changes on the days the scales don't move.

We have daily weigh ins so why not come along and join us today. You can find the weigh ins on the Home page in the Events section on the right. Just click on the post in Events and record your start weight and any loss/gain or maintain for the week.

To get the most of the forum be active, share tips, recipes and experiences. Read some of the posts they are very motivating.

Have a good first week.

Hi mmm9 as YellowRose already said it's likely water weight that you lost while you were poorly and then regained when you were better. Our bodies behave differently when we are unwell, and we can't give you specific answers. It depends if you were poorly for a few days or a longer time, what your illness was, and also any other health conditions you might have. If this was a short minor illness then it's really not worth worrying about a few pounds lost while you were dehydrated and gained back now you are better hydrated. If this was a longer term or more serious illness, or you have other health conditions then you really need to discuss this with your doctor not an internet weightloss forum. If you are actually overweight and you want to lose weight YellowRose has given you some good tips and links in her post above, otherwise book a doctors appointment if you are worried. Good luck.

I do know that this is the problem people do have when they don't eat the right amount of calories that they should have. It happened to me for years because I used to only eat around 1000 calories a day because I thought it would help me lose weight. Problem is that your body thinks that you are starving it so it turns what you do eat into body fat to ensure it can continue. Body fat weighs more than eating the extra calories does so it stops you from losing weight and sometimes means you put weight on. Check how many calories a day you should be having to be able to lose weight on the NHS bmi calculator and do make sure you eat no less than the amount of calories it advises you to and no more than the higher amount and this means you should manage to still lose weight. When I upped my calories to between these amounts I started to lose weight and have now lost 2st. Please make sure you do also not make this same mistake. Good luck with your journey.
