Hey all, I'm new here!!

I'm finding it really hard to lose weight I'm currently 20st and I've had enough now!! I've tried everything possible and it just won't work!!! I can't even leave my home because the lack of confidence I have in myself!!

Help??!!!

Hi. You have come to the right place for help and support. You can do this. I was bigger than you and have lost 5 1/2 stone so far. I believe you need to make lifelong changes - don't think of it as a diet otherwise you will lose weight and then out it back on. Losing weight isn't easy but it can be done. As soon as you lose a bit you will start to feel better. What has caused your weight gain? Too much food, the wrong types of food or both? Once you address what caused the problem you can begin to address it. Good luck!

This is the heaviest I have ever been!! I gave birth to my son a year ago and I've just gone down hill ever since!! It's down to buying the wrong foods and not bothering to cook decent meals because I'm just so tired all the time I work as well so when I get home I just can't be bothered :( I've tried all different types of weight loss and give up within a WEEK!! I have no motivation what so ever it's really bad and I've never been this depressed! I just hate myself!!

Take one day at a time, plan your meals. You are not alone!

Hi my mybeautifulboy2016 . It is so hard when they are little. It is a wonderful time but also such hard work especially when you work. I promise it does get easier. Try little steps like replacing potatoes with veg and salad. Whacking a piece of chicken breast into a tin foil parcel with olive oil and Cajun spice takes the same time as pre packaged food. Same for a frozen fish fillet with Lemon and parsley. Grill some salmon with teriyaki sauce. Most importantly see your GP about your anxiety and depression. I had post natal depression when I had my children. I am not saying that you have this I am just sharing with you the really positive experience I had when I got help from my GP. Good luck

Thank you for the advice much help! I did have postinatal depression and still have depression!! Your right it is a wonderful time!! I want to do this for myself the most but also for my son

Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you.

Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news.

Take a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as a lot of people have been successful with it, making sure to enter your details into the BMI calculator, to get a calorie allowance tailored to your personal requirements. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate.

We run daily weigh-in's and you'd be very welcome to join us. The threads can always be found in the Events section, to the right of the HOME page, bottom on a mobile.

We also run a Daily Diary, where we share our meal and exercise plans for the day. It's a great place to get ideas and to keep us focused. The link can also be found in Events.

Be aware, that the HU app doesn't give you access to all of our important features, so we advise that you use the full website page.

We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too.
