I'm 52 3 stone over weight and so Fed up all the time.
I used to be fit and healthy, soon as I got home from work I would put my trainers on and go for a run, now I come in sit down and eat sweets, i just can't get motivated. All I seem to do is think about food.
I had a hip replacement 18 months ago and it just knocked me for six, my thighs are so fat they hurt. Can anybody help get me back on track?

Hello Victoria20 and welcome to the Weight Loss Forum
I can feel your despair and frustration, I was in a very similar place two years ago after ankle surgery following a long debilitating wait during which time I put extra weight on my already overweight body. But take heart, you can turn this around, have a good look at the suggestions below and please ask if you have any questions.
Here are a few suggestions on how to get the most out of the forum. Please note if you are using the new HU App many of these features are not available so I suggest you use the full website version.
The first place to look is at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread first and move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you
Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news
Have a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as many people have had success with it. Also use the BMI checker to find your target calories, it's important to eat enough. This was a major turning point for me, realising I could eat anything I wanted as long as the calories are accounted for
Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate
The forum also have group weigh-ins every day, as well as a new Daily Diary, if you wish to take part. The posts can always be found in the Events section on the 'home' page
You'll notice a grey box next to people's names, these are achievement badges, and as a new member you have a 'Newbie' badge. We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too. If you have any questions please just ask
Ultimately it is only you who can take the decision to get back on track, no one can do that for you. But you can depend on a massive network of people here to support, listen, cajole, hector, encourage, advise and otherwise be at your side once you do make that decision.
It seems like a huge momentous hurdle making that first commitment to get back to it, I know from experience, but the moment you do it seems like such a tiny subtle shift that changes everything.
No need to be fed up - you need to be excited! You've made a decision to change and have joined us here!
The only way to get back to that great place where you were before your hip replacement is to make a start - and not to expect to get there overnight. One small step to change one step at a time.
I'm 55 in September, have lost over 4 stone and am just 4ft 9" and also have a disability that limits my mobility. I had a serious car crash in 2002 and my fractured ankle didn't heal properly. I ended up being immobile for 3/4 years and then having an ankle fusion in 2005. I too piled on the weight - just because eating was about all I was able to do!
You may find these past threads and messages helpful?
Welcome Victoria slowly slowly catchy monkey 🐒 you have made a first step and that's important... we have all been in some part of your boat at some time so we can empathise with how you feel .. sit down make a plan you can stick to eat regularly make sure you are not hungry I was and still am eating every three hours now which I have found works amazingly well ... make sure you drink enough water and don't confuse hunger for thirst! good luck you will do this!! 😊
Hi Victoria20 many of us came here with the same feeling s your not alone 😃 our weight does have a great impact on our emotions which can then make us overeat so a viscous circle begins. I have lost weight but I was ready to. You really have to get into the mindset I think that the best way to do that is to give yourself small goals. Like I am going to reduce my sugar in take for 3 days and eat more veg. Then small weight loss goals like 0.5 lb this week. Also keep coming on here interact join in it helps to keep you in the zone. Good luck😃
