Yay! Managed to reign it back in!

So last weekend (Bank Holiday) was hit with several occassions that meant I was eating more that I usually would:

Friday: Pub lunch (I had gammon, egg and chips) and a slice of very delicious HM carrot cake at the tea and cakes following my step-dads memorial service. Would have been easy to eat more than one slice - there were a range of HM cakes provided by my Mum's neighbours!

Saturday: We usually have a cooked "brunch" when we are at home for the weekend. However, I was busy sorting out a mobile phone for my Mum and delivering it to her, so only had a banana. I wasn't hungry though, and at 4.30pm I had a nice low calorie sausage salad dinner with new potatoes. Undid all my efforts of the day with a "choc fest" in the evening. All logged but over that day by 600 cals!

Sunday: Had our brunch lunch (mushrooms, eggs, low calorie chicken sausages, toast and marmalade). But a decent lamb roast dinner and a frangipane tart eaten mid-afternoon again meant that I was over by 430 calories.

Monday: Went to Wembley to watch Reading FC in the play-off finals. Two boiled eggs for breakfast, lunch was a huge bread roll stuffed with roast pork, all sorts of trimmings (crispy seaweed, red cabbage, onions, stuffing, finely diced apple.... and gravy - was very awkward to eat, but I demolished it! On the way back, the friend who we'd gone with (and for whom we secured a ticket) said he'd like to treat us to an Indian meal, so we visited our local restaurant and I chose as wisely as I could - 2 poppadoms, a chapati, chicken tikka skewer... and an ice cream dessert. Must admit I didn't log that day.

Tuesday - Friday: Worked really hard on reigning myself back in. Two meals a day (lunch and decent dinner), healthy filling foods, no processed carbs and NO SNACKING!

Friday morning weigh in: Rewarded with a 2.2lb loss!!! Very happy with this, as it's three weeks until a two week holiday, and I'd like to get as close to my goal weight as possible before we leave. Presently 9st 10.6lbs, would like to get to 9 stone. And no, I'm not expecting to get TO goal in three weeks, but down to 9st 7lb would be perfect!

If I managed to be as good for 5 days instead of 3 or a whole 7/7 days, imagine what my weight loss might be! :D :D

What a fabulous week Pineapple27 , apart from the memorial service obviously although I hope it was a celebration of life.

How well you have done to being yourself inso well.

So hope you can knock off another few pounds before your holiday, but I am sure you will enjoy it whatever your weight.

Very nice celebration of life, with some smiles and laughter. We had my step-dads cremation back in March (family only). This was the chance for the neighbours, friends and villagers to say goodbye!

Lovely, just as it should be.

Doing well Pineapple27 - it's the losses that count, I still haven't stopped myself weighing daily, just so I don't relax and overeat. It's a way of life now for you, isn't it! Keep on losing.

I too weigh daily and don't get too distressed by seeing the variation on the scales... as long as the general trend is downwards! It most certainly is a way of life after 5 years.

Great result, your account is a lesson on how to be sociable and still stay on track, well done!

Well done Pineapple27 on getting back on track 😊 I find if I write down everything I eat, like you do, even if it's waaaaay over, it makes it seem real somehow and helps me to be accountable 😊

Onwards and downwards

Yes, better to keep an account.... easier to prepare myself for the damage! I'm going to try and be a bit strict with myself this weekend, as would like to leave the weekend the same weight as I entered it!

Yes, very much looking forward to the holiday! It is our first ever safari, and we have got all the painful jabs out of the way (last Friday).

It sounds like you ended up with a calorie cycling sort of week, heavy cal days followed by light ones, which is meant to be very boosting for the metabolism. Maybe this is a strategy you could use again as long as you really make sure you rein in for the low cal days! I'm impressed at the result, it shows your determination over the rest of the week really worked :) And no regrets for any of the weekend's indiscretions as it all worked out fine :)

Yes, that makes sense.

That's exactly what I did last week - on the three days I was controlling the food more strictly, I was having just 800 calories and ensuring I cut out absolutely all the snacking. So after dinner at 5pm, nothing to eat (but had tea and coffees with milk) until about 12.30pm the following day.

Wasn't struggling or feeling hungry at all, but was concentrating on cutting out carbs and eating plenty of protein and healthy fats.

Like I said, very disciplined! And it clearly worked :)

Looking to replicate this week 😀 and without the bank holiday hoping to see a similar result!

A few people have suggested intermittent fasting for losing lbs close to goal. So I think you're totally on the right track :)
