A lovely roast dinner....

170g fillet steak (264 cals)

Sauce made with red onions, garlic, butter, red wine, red currant jelly, fresh thyme, Dijon mustard (156 cals)

Potatoes (106 cals)

Parsnips (31 cals)

Oil for roasting 1 tbsp (128 cals)

Mashed carrot and swede (53 cals)

Purple sprouting (8 cals)

746 calories in total.

Brunch was kipper fillets on a slice of toast (444 cals)

And that's my lot for today! 1190 calories for food. 107 for 4 teas and 2 coffees.

Total for the day: 1282 calories

That looks very tasty Pineapple27 ...we're about to get stuck into mince and onions, perpetual spinach, carrots, the last of our purple sprouting broccoli and the final 'sweet dumpling' squash...about 650 in total and a big plate of food :) I'm leaving the remaining sprouting broccoli to go to seeds hopefully to provide more meals next year ;)

This came from a supermarket, but definitely past its best - lots of sprigs were quite woody and fibrous!

Been enjoying lots of spinach lately - wilted with a little garlic fried in butter :-p

We'll be sick of spinach this week - because of the cold/hot/cold/hot weather looks like it's ready to bolt so it's planned into three meals this week. It is lovely with a bit of butter and garlic...last week we had a glut of asparagus so fresh that putting butter on was a bit like gilding a lily :)

bar the mashed carrot n swede and roast tatties it's a lovely meal :) Sorry those two I am not keen on

1282 cals a bit low for me I aim for 1500 cals per day ;)

I'm a shortie though.... so 1500 calories a day would cause me to gain! My maintenance rate is 1300!!! I don't think I've ever come across someone who didn't like roast potatoes!!

I just thought the same, Pineapple27, don't like roast potatoes? Some strange people out there 😁

I agree! A classic English roast is an excellent weight-loss dinner, but swap out the potatoes, carrots and swede for (say) cauliflower and stir-fried kale and you're sorted.

That looks really nice, I could eat swede until it comes out of my ears. I'm a big red meat lover too so the steak is a winner!

It comes from the supermarket starting with "A" (blue not green!) and is truly delicious and very tender.

Good tip for weekend eating as I'm a shortie too so stick to about 1200 cals . Only 2 meals though so would have a lie in or do when not working .

I’m not really active and very short, so two meals is all I need! 10 hour shifts - phew! 😳
