Help! Since bank holiday weekend my eating and drinking consumption has been terrible. I can't seem to get back on track even though I am doing the steps each day that I do make sure I do I get home from work and the first thing I think about is a) a glass of wine and b) what can I eat with it. I've tried throwing things in the food waste bin and not having wine in the house but my partner says do you fancy a wine I go to shake my head but nod instead aghh I need some advice and tips. Does anyone live near me in Chelmsford Essex and wants to meet up for walks excercise πππ

Not been a good week
Hi Kim58
I feel your frustration some times it can be so hard to get back on track once we fall off the wagon so well done for posting as thats the first step to getting there. Why not have a healthy snack ready for when you get home so you know you can eat someting and still be on track. Have you seen the new Daily Dairy that's posted everyday with your daily food plan and exercise? That might help you stay on plan each day. Instead of a glass of wine why not have a spritzer it's less calories.
Sorry I don't live near you I'm in Birmingham.
When I first started I found cakes and biscuits and chocolates particularly tempting and used to practice every day, imagining various people walking up to me and asking me if I'd like one of the above and then I would imagine myself saying "no thank you", maybe twice if they asked "are you sure?"...... I would find the "no thank you" would be out of my mouth before I could think about it when the real situation happened. It sounds so daft, I know, but it did help me to get past the cravings which disappeared sooner than I thought. As far as the wine is concerned - maybe you could allow yourself one or two glasses each week and decide in advance which days you will have them - make sure your hubby knows and practice the "no thank you trick" before your dry days so you'll stay strong.
Good luck x
Don't know whether this would help but have you tried either wine spritzers or the lower alcohol wines which both have fewer calories? Alternatively, try drinking a pint of water or low cal squash when you get in just to fill yourself up. Good luck!
Yes I live in Chelmsford, off on holiday soon so I will be in desperate need of shedding some excess on my return.
Hey Kim58 - I need a 'regroup' myself so I feel your frustration! I'm a newbie, only on week 2.. and I knew I'd find this week a struggle after a great first week! So, today was a bit of a disaster. But I'm going to dust myself off and go again tomorrow. i think we have to think super long-term and take each little habit-change as as new challenge.
We'll get there! I guess your first thing is to think maybe of something in advance that could feel like a treat when you step into your house? Have it planned in advance - five+ minutes lying on the sofa looking at this forum, for example!!!
Anyway, don't give up!
Thanks for the tips I need to rethink this week and put it behind me. I think because of the bank holiday weekend I just let things get out of control. Let's hope we both have a better week. I am still calorie counting even though I am going over my 1,400 calories a day π
Yes, think it's a great idea... i do find it hard to get on here consistently, but the way this week is going definitely need to have more accountability
