Hello marie1526 and welcome to the weight loss forum 😊 I have completely transformed my life after reaching rock bottom in July 2015. However, I do not regards this as a 'diet' but rather a permanent way of living and eating 😊

Here are a few suggestions for getting the most out of the forum. (Please note some of these suggestions are not available if you are using the HU App so I suggest you use the full website.)

The first place to look is at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread first and move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you 😊

Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news 😊

Have a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as many people have had success with it. Also use the BMI checker to find your target calories, it's important to eat enough. This was a major turning point for me, realising I could eat anything I wanted as long as the calories are accounted for 😊

Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate 😊

The forum also have group weigh-ins every day if you wish to take part. The posts can always be found in the Events section on the 'home' page 😊

You'll notice a grey box next to people's names, these are achievement badges, and as a new member you may have a 'Newbie' badge. If you have any questions or would like a Newbie badge please just ask 😊

We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too 😊

Best wishes

Anna

Well done for signing up. I've been doing this for 2 weeks now and have lost 5 lbs. This is partly the diet and partly because I am doing daily activity-walking and gardening.

I weigh in on a Friday and get lots of helpful comments from other members.

I am also doing the April challenge, which commits me to doing at least 150 hours activity a week.

So far, what's given me the motivation to stay on track is knowing I have to get on the scales on a Friday morning and keeping a food and activity diary.

What made me join was that my blood pressure went very high, so I knew I had to do something.

I hope you get what you want out of this. Good luck πŸ˜‰

Like Anna61 said about creating a permanent way of living and eating, I completely agree. From day one I have viewed this journey as a lifestyle change and it has kept me strong.

Good luck with your journey!

Hi Marie

This is a VERY supportive forum and you will be in good company here.

Try to plan and have something healthy around for when you get hungry.

If you are feeling depressed or down maybe think about seeing someone if you feel its bad or even just supplement with some magnesium to lift your mood.

If you are going on this journey this is a great place to get support along the way.

Before taking a supplement like Magnesium I would see your GP first since there are other salts in the body that can cause low moods if low and having too much can cause problems just as too little. He can take bloods to check that your trace elements are within normal range or not.

Not what you're looking for?
