We all have different likes and dislikes when it comes to food and drink, but it’s recently dawned on me that I am probably a bit weird in some of my food combos. I say dawned on me, what I really mean is, directly said to me by many ‘ you’re weird’ 😂. I shall give an example of my normal for me, but thought totally weird by others. I love a bacon barmcake ( roll, bap, whatever it’s called in your part of the country)….well that’s not weird I hear you all say, but how many of you have crispy sautéed kale on the barmcake with the bacon? Yes, apparently this puts me into the ‘wacky weirdo’ bracket…I also don’t have ketchup, brown sauce, or any other sauce on my bacon barm.
So, just so I know I’m not the only food combos weirdo, what strange food couplings do you all eat that are surprisingly tasty?

I used to have mayo and Thai sweet chilli sauce with a full English breakfast, or salad. However that's changed [since I realised about UPFs, and indeed became vegetarian 😂] to Greek yogurt, flavoured with chilli oil and fresh lime juice 😋
I get those combos, my son loves that type of dressing/dip sort of thing. Unfortunately I don’t. I love berries with yoghurt, but at the side, as I like my yoghurt smoothie without ‘bits’ lol
I can't think of any weird combinations except for putting fruit in my veg tray bakes. However, i'm often classed as weird as I don't like tomato ketchup, vinegar or baked beans xx
I think we may be in the minority with baked beans, I dislike them immensely, and I truly can’t stand ketchup, brown sauce, mayo, salad cream etc…it’s that sweet and sour taste, just not for me.
I love it when I find another baked beans hater, there's not many of us around lol Out of the sauces I only like mayo. Another think I dislike strongly is gravy! xx
I cook with all my scraps from the fridge . I waste nothing . I put those chutney bottles that folk seem to buy me at Xmas in a stir fry , rinse out sauce bottles so get bits of flavour from those . Last night we fancied something fishy but my husband wanted mushy peas . There was a sad sprig of broccoli, an old carrot so that was grated and some mushrooms so all that went on the same plate with parsley sauce too . We are inventive as I can’t stand food waste . My food
bills are lower than most as I boil a chicken carcass up for soup . Can’t pretend we are super poor but I am crazy frugal.
I don’t eat it now but a friend once recommended marmite and banana on well-buttered toast;I had to try it once she’d mentioned it and my goodness its very yummy. (I have to be careful with marmite now as it gives me a skin reaction and I think I ate so many bananas when I was doing weightwatchers that I couldn’t face them anymore, though I occasionally fancy one when mrff buys them if its ’just right’.)
