Help! I'm stuck!

Having lost 13lbs since January I seem to be totally stuck at 9st 12lbs (target weight is 9st).

I'm taking in fewer calories than I'm burning up and I'm on week 7 of couch to 5k. Grateful for any advice on how to get over this annoying hump!! Thank you xx

Hi and welcome, Erica :)

Well done for losing 13lbs. I'm afraid those last few pounds can be a real pain to shift and it's all about patience and perseverance.

Don't be tempted to eat too few calories, here's why

Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you.

Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news.

Take a look at the 12 week plan, as a lot of people have been successful with it, making sure to enter your details into the BMI calculator, to get a calorie allowance tailored to your personal requirements. Don't forget to take your measurements, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate.

We run daily weigh-in's and you'd be very welcome to join us. The threads can always be found in the Events section, to the right of the home page, bottom on a mobile.

We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too.

It's only left for me to wish you well on your journey :)

Stick with it EricaMcC 😊 You are doing really well. As you get close to goal weight loss slows down a lot.

I shared this interview which might help

But if you look under 'topics' there are a few other posts about plateaus

Best wishes

Anna

Hi I'm doing the NHS 12 week weight loss plan- which is calorie counting but also offers ideas and helpful tips to various issues and week 11 cover weight loss plateau. Its on the NHS Choices website- livewell page and its free. But basically it suggests:

wait & see- measure your body since though you may not loose weight which is measureable you may be loosing inches off various parts of your body- waist, mid-arm, thighs, calf, chest.

look at your calorific intake- maybe increasing slightly without you realising it

step up your exercise or vary it- maybe add something to you current regime- NHS Choices have 10min strength exercises you can do- muscle development help to boost weight loss.

Check your BMI- do you still need to loose weight? I randomly picked a target BMI of 22 at the start of my decision to loose weight without looking at what the weight was- which is 8st 6lbs which would be too thin for me ( I went to down to 81/2stone when doing training for the Full Moon walk and thought I was too thin).

Hope it helps and good luck with your weight loss

Brilliant advice - thanks so much! I'll check out the NHS 12 week plan right now.

I don't have any great advice EricaMcC , but I am also on a plateau and haven't lost any new weight since 30th January (not that I'm counting...). All I can say is that its best to just keep going and maybe shake up your exercise a little - try something new.

I had a few weeks where I went a bit mad and put on 2lbs, but that's off again now and I am just patiently waiting for the scales to catch up with me.
