Big goal+mini goals= happy ending

Hi there. I am new to this forum and would like to introduce myself. My name is Nat and I am 32 years old. Wife to a great man and Mum to a little darling munchkin. I am in desperate need to lose weight as I would like to make my prefect family of 3 into a family of 4, but more safely then I did with my first pregnancy.

I currently weigh 17stone with a huge BMI of 40.8. I need to get my weight down as low as possible but want to be at least down to a BMI of 30. So that’s a whopping 5 and a half stone I need to lose to get to my goal weight and start having fun safely bringing another life into the world.

5 and a half stone is a big big goal but this journey is going to be made of little steps. My first goal is a target of 5lbs by the end of the 1st week of December with a secondary goal of half a stone by Christmas.

I have spent some time reading others posts ( up past two nights with poorly munchkin sleeping on me) and was hoping you all wouldn’t mind me popping on daily just to write how my day has been etc. Not for any replies but just to put myself out there for all to see in the hope it will help me hold myself more accountable.

Sorry for the massive post and thank you so much for reading if you made it this far. Here is to the journey of a lifetime 😀

Hi and welcome, Dolphinsheep :)

You may of course do a daily blog, but we find the most successful route, is to become part of the community and join in the weigh-in, Daily Diary and challenges. The support you give others, comes back a hundredfold and shifts the focus from 'dieting' to following a healthy lifestyle, with like-minded people :)

I'd like to invite you to join our Newbie Club, which we hope will be a good place for you to connect with members, who are also just starting out. If you just post a few words to introduce yourself and respond to others there, you'll soon break the ice. Here's the link

You'll find all the information you need to navigate the forum in the header, so please take the time to read it carefully.

Wishing you all the best :)

Hi Moreless. Thank you so much for the speedy the reply and the suggestions. I will take a look at the challenges and daily diary. I am hoping to learn from people who are on the same journey and it seems like I have come to the prefect place 😀

I think by contributing to the daily diary you are likely to get to know others better - hear what they have planned for their menus, etc!

Good luck - you have a great incentive there! Small achievable goals are the way to go - breaking it down into smaller steps.

Hi Pineapple27. Thank you for the suggestion. I will check out the daily dairy. 😀

Hi dolphin

good luck with it all, my advice would be go to your NHS doctor and get 12 weeks free to slimming world via a voucher slimming world is the easiest kindest way to change your lifestyle i have lost 2.5 stone in 8 weeks with it. no counting just enjoy the pounds dropping off. encourages you to exercise and eat healthy, use the free 12 weeks to your advantage and enjoy the meetings where they praise and support you. enjoy your journey and good luck with your goal and number 4

kind regards

I'm very pleased to hear that SW has worked so well for you, Shaynem70, but just in case you need the support to continue after the 12 weeks, I'd like to invite you to join our Newbie Club, too, which we hope will be a good place for you to connect with members, who are also just starting out. This so is the place. I have never known anywhere like it. No one will pass any judgements and will just support, support, support.

Daily Diary is such a useful resource and I use it so many, many times, almost daily in fact. You get great ideas from everyone else and people will try to help you think differently.

Enjoy your journey to a new lifestyle!

Welcome to the forum Dolphinsheep (great name by the way) I agree with everything Ceals has said, join in and get to know us. I feel like I have a set of really caring friends at the ready here to cheer on my success and cheer me up when I've had a bad day. Tonight I've reached for my laptop to talk to friends instead of reaching for the packet of biscuits!

Daily diaries and the 'What's happening today' threads are great. Weekly weigh-in is good to, pick a day and get to know the team for that day.

Good luck and hope to see you around.

Hello and welcome Hidden 😊

I agree with the others about joining in. Being part of a group is proven to boost weight loss, the Daily Diary in particular is excellent as you write your proposed eating plan on here, and somehow it makes sticking to it easier, as if my magic!! Lol 😊

There is also a general chat thread called What’s Happening which is very well used, we are such a chatty lot!

Best wishes

Anna

Mini goals is definitely the way to go - I work on half a stone at a time as the total amount I need to lose is daunting!

Good luck 😀👍

Thank you so much for all the replies and for such a wonderful welcome. I’m looking forward to getting to know you all and support you in your journeys. 😊

Hi Dolphinsheep.

I am starting week 6 on this journey and have found everyone on here to be supportive and given me some really good advice.

You have already taken the first step to a healthier you and if you have a look at the Newbie club you will get all the information you need to succeed.

There is the weigh in once a week and you can keep up with other members and let us know how you are doing. Find some new menu ideas and if you plan just small goals at a time the weight will soon come down.

Welcome to the group and I look forward to hearing how you and your family are doing.xxx

hi was glad to see your post coz know how you feel, I am older than you(by 20 years) but I have the same goal and figure with my BMI. unfortunately I have got to lose 9 stone so am seriously trying to cut out all of the things I have been used to eating if I go out for the day, burgers etc. and am joining a gym, as is very good for relaxing and making you feel good about yourself, whatever your size. Is very much baby steps but am trying to visualize actually being able to go shopping for clothes again, also not having pain in legs and back. Good luck.
