Can anyone recommend a good pan for dry frying. I am constantly having to replace mine. Also what do you use if you need some oil to cook food in. I have always used 1cal sunflower spray but I have read that this is carcegeenic if used a high temperatures. Thanks

Pans
Coconut oil and Rapeseed oils are stable at high temperatures and both considered "good fats" by the nutrition world, as far as I have read (there will no doubt be a report tomorrow saying just the opposite). I tend to use a pastry brush to apply a little oil to a pan. I also "fry" in a small amount of water.
In terms of pans, I make sure I use fairly heavy based ones but not sure what brand they are. Just looked and one of them is Lakeland Plastics, others of unknown origin!
Thank you concerned
I use tefal pans - expensive but they are so good for their non- stickness and last for years ( unless your son scrapes them with a sharp knife 😡)
I fry in a tiny pat of butter to avoid processed oils- let it melt then use a pastry brush to spread it around the base of the pan, if the pans good you don't need much at all.
Second vote for tefal 'red spot' frying pans ☺
Wow! Thank you
Nut oils are safest at high temperatures as long as you're not allergic.
I use the olive oil spray, don't know about pan it is the one with the red circle in the bottom which goes darker as it heats up.
Just read on other replies - Tefal, that's the one, couldn't remember the company name and too lazy to go in kitchen to look.
Thanks that's the one I have but doesn't last long hubby likes crispy bacon and it spoils the pan
Going to try but oil 1stoneup may have to ban hubby from making bacon butties
coconut oil for me every time, you can get a brand called ktc which has not got the coconut taste but is still 100% pure.
What do you mean?
I don't know, I am actually trying to find out now.

Only place here to get it is Tesco. You can get it on ebay too.

Have read through stuff but not sure how it is processed but this site seems to say it is good, sorry I cant give you the answers Concerned.
I know what you mean, its just a good alternative if you don't like the taste of coconut.
I have been using it for ages and think it is really good
You can skip making a choice of oils if you grill instead. Much better for your husband's crispy bacon lyturt !
Sizzola rapeseed spray oil it's brilliant and I use sainsburys non stick grill pan with the grooves. Think £7.00
