Hi, I'm trying to loose weight. I'm wondering if anyone has used those diet tracking app like myfitnesspal? Is it good? Also, if you gave up why??

I am using cronometer. I find it useful for accountability ("If I am going to eat that, then I need to log it") and it was really helpful for counting carbs. Also, tracking weight loss/gain with nice graphs.

I don't log everything now, but it's useful to learn where there calories and the carbs are coming from.

I find logging not as convenient. Do people share that feeling?

I use a carb. counting app. It helps to figure out how much insulin is needed for meals and snacks.😀👍

I found it a right pain in the butt to log all my food & working out the calories was even worse (in MyFitnessPal). My husband tried it too & lost the will to live. We’re both just focussing on what we eat (low carbs for me, moderate carbs for him) & only eating when we are hungry instead. But other people are probably less lazy. I love the app that tracks my weight loss from syncing with my scales, tracks my sleep from my watch & steps from my watch though - it’s called Health Mate.

I use a website manofman which I pay an annual subscription to (weightlossresources.co.uk). It works on the same principle as My Fitness Pal but there are many more resources. I've used it ever since I started my weight loss journey in 2012 and it has just become an essential part of daily life for me.

It costs me £83.40 a year - that's £1.60 a week, which I feel is wonderful value (plus it's a great little community too!)

You can get a 24 hour free trial before you commit to signing up.

Hi I use the Fitbit app. Tbh I don’t take the macro information too seriously but it does give me a rough idea of how many carbs I’m having. I do still feel that I need the discipline of logging my food and this is as convenient as writing it down in notes on my phone which is what I was doing before.

Hello manofman and welcome to this Forum!

I've no personal experience of any diet tracking app and find the structure of this Weight Loss site has helped me well in developing my own plans for eating better and losing weight in the process but others on here will let you know of their experiences I'm sure

Here's a link to our Site Guide which we strongly recommend you read as if will help you find your way about the Forum and provides other links on security, picture guides on navigation and other useful info'

Please note, don't use the HU App, it is much easier to use the website!

healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

There's a lot there but it's worth taking your time to read, honest!

We recommend that members wanting to lose weight join a Weekly Weigh-In, on the day of your choice, and also use the Daily Diary, where members share their meal plans and get useful feedback.

A special feature of our Forum is the degree of support between members which you will experience (and add to yourself !) as you join in and chat with others.

All the best on your weight-loss journey ! 😊

I use MyNetDiary it’s free and I find it great - it scans barcodes and remembers things I eat so it’s got much faster as I’ve used it more. It links to my watch and so my exercise and steps log in it automatically. I find it really useful to see what I eat - it’s made me think twice about having some items that I know I shouldn’t and encouraged me to rethink and swap for a healthier alternative quite often.

I use mfp to log my calories. I like how it syncs to fitbit and other activity trackers too. The data base is massive. You can scan bar codes on packaging plus its easy to add your own recipes

Another vote for My Fitness Pal. Use with weighing your food if you can. If you make a meal and eat another portion another day you can copy meals from previous days. It remembers what you’ve eaten etc. Barcode scanning helpful w accuracy for packaged food. I’ve even been abroad and put in a food I’ve never heard of and it had it in and good calorie estimate!

Word of warning not all foods have all macros and nutrients entered so while it can be accurate for overall calories can be bit off for these things
