Hi, i am a 53yr old female who has a lot of weight to lose (8st). I have tried every diet going but lack the will power. After having trouble with my knees last year i now realise that i MUST lose weight or end up disabled which is not what i want.
So here i am feeling positive about the journey ahead and looking forward to chatting to you all picking up tips and support and helping where i can too. Please be gentle with me though 😊

Hi and welcome to this friendly forum where all you will receive is support and advice.
Take a look at the newbies post on the pinned posts section on the right of the screen lots of info on there.
Check your calorie allowance using the BMI calculator and drink plenty of water also up the exercise a little even if it is just extremely walking.
I started my journey May last year with aching knees, ankles and hip but since loosing some weight this has improved 90% hardly any aches now still have a way to go though.
If you need any help just shout out our weigh in day is mon-sat I would opt for wed onwards as mon and tues are busy already.
Thank you for the welcome Bev. I have posted in the Wednesday weigh in and am just about to go read as much as i can. Its good to hear that you have such a great improvement with your knees etc, it gives me the inspiration i need to do this.
Hi Cariad63 and welcome to the forum.
I hope you don't mind be butting in, but I just read your post on the weigh-in thread and I know it was difficult for you to post your weight, so well done for that.
I was just rather concerned that 1500 kcal may be too low for you.
I don't mean that disrespectfully at all, but My Fitness Pal does tend to have a habit of under calculating.
You might find the NHS one more accurate as Bev suggested. Everybody's allowance is very individual. From experience we know that people are more successful in losing weight when they start off with a much more generous allowance, gradually working downwards as they lose weight. Slow and steady, wins the race, so to speak!
Hi isou7000, not offended at all and thank you. Some one else(sorry forgot who) also pointed out that my calorie intake would be too low so i upped it to 2000 cals after doing my BMI Thank you again for the tips i am so going to love this place 😊
