I anew here, I am 49 years old and throughout my life I have probably lost about 20 stone, unfortunately I have gained 23 back! I really need to find a lifelong way of eating as I enter my 50th year.
Hello: I anew here, I am 49 years old... - Weight Loss Support
Hello
Hello Paula
I can empathise with you. I have just turned 55 and I am weighing in at 19 stone. I have managed to give up smoking and drinking but this weight thing is a different story. I only joined last week after trying SW, WW etc throughout my life. Although it has been a short time I like the fact that I can eat what I like as long as I allow for it. This is different to other weight plans that all have some stipulations about what to include and what to leave out. I have never been good at being told what to do so I hope the freedom of this plan will suit the rebel in me. I find that writing down what I have eaten helps because it keeps me focused on calorie allowance(which is quite generous because of my weight). I also make sure to include things I enjoy, for me sugar in my tea and a milky coffee mid morning.
All the best to you
I too have tried every diet there is, I think I could write my own book! I have decided with the help of my husband that I am best to ditch the fad diet groups and plans and just go with the science, " Eat less calories and move about a little bit more' I HAVE to make this a lifestyle for me or I can see an old age of illness ahead. I only started on Thursday last week but I too have been writing ALL my food and drink down and it is amazing what things you miss out when trying to remember what you have had also when you try and guess the weight and calories I am surprised that someone who has been dieting as long as I have is so clueless on portion sizes and calorie content! Onwards and upwards.

Hello and welcome Paula6867 ☺
Hi Paula6867
I too empathise with you. There are many what I call 'fad diets' on the market that promise quick fixes and only work if you eat right for whatever 'type' you are. Nobody has invented the 'always bl@@dy hungry, can't stick to a diet' diet to my knowledge!
This plan is flexible, takes into account your preferences and teaches you about portion control - my biggest downfall! I don't claim to be an expert, or be a perfect dieter, and we all have our ups and downs - I had a down last week after sticking to it and maintaining, but lost 2.5lb this week.
It's taken 49 years to get where you are, so look at this as a lifestyle change rather than a short term goal. Far better to lose 7lb in 6 months and keep it off than lose a stone in 2 weeks only to gain it back with some interest 3 months later.
Good luck on your journey. Xx
Hi Paula6867
Ive just joined up today as well. I can empathise with you, in my younger days I would loose weight and then put it all back on and more. Now in my mid 50's and although fit and healthy, I know that I'm 'pushing my luck'. There is a lot of information here, so lets hope we find the answer to enjoying our downward journey. Wishing you luck.
