I am wondering whether it might be worth it, just for a few days.

I know what you mean - yeuk! Never tried the carb ones and haven't eaten potatoes, bread, pasta for two months so don't know what I feel when I eat roast pots on xmas day.

How have you found cutting out pasta bread and potatoes. Considering doing this as well

I've been low carb for about 3 weeks now and lost 7lbs..

I'm sure a couple of roast potatoes won't cause any problems...

I have found it is working for me. I have still got 9 stone to go but lost 2 quickly which was what I have needed to keep me focussed. Now I think I can still lose 2 or 3 lb a week for a while as I am moving a lot. I am eating lots of veg so plate looks full and lean protein like chicken. Not missing the other stuff much but am feeling anxious about Christmas. Eating at Christmas is one of the highlights for me but this year I will try to be good, I wish it wasn't Christmas really

That's a real shame, maybe think what you want to enjoy rather than what you're worried about. Focus on the good :)

I just spoke to my slim husband about it. I thought if I can say On here then I can say it to him. He says we will both go easy until lunch then have what we want until bed. Boxing Day I will be more careful. I guess the worse that can happen is 3 or 4 pound on. I will prepare for that. Thanks!

That's great you've chatted to your other half about it all. Remember any immediate gain on the scales may be just a temporary effect. Think healthy :) and focus on all the things you enjoy. Food and non-food :)

I agree learning a different mindset will help you through even the thinnest of people can put a bit on over Christmas.

its learning a new way of healthy patterns for the rest of your life as there will be always be more parties and Christmases, its just learning to be more sensible may be a little more movement in between.

You need some fats in order to absorb fat soluble vitamins . don't forget that medication that stops fat absorption will also mean diarrhoea if you eat any fats

I'd rather just do my best and rectify any increase the week after :-)

I would just try to be sensible (as in don't take drugs to stop you absorbing fat)...but don't worry too much...most of us will probably gain some weight over Christmas (temptation seems to be everywhere right now) but everyone will also be keen to lose that weight come new year so just bear in mind that it's okay to have some treats as long as it is only that - a treat over the Christmas holidays. I was really concerned myself until recently and now I'm just going to enjoy myself, knowing I'll be straight back on the wagon come new year.

I managed to lose a lb a few Christmasses ago and it was all down to mindful eating and thinking in advance about what was worth it calorie wise and what wasn't. I didn't feel deprived at all and I had some lovely food. I made sure I got out for a long walk each day too, which really helped. Although it was much easier when my son was a baby and could be bundled in the buggy without moaning.... Good luck, you'll be fine!
