Well done for facing up to the challenge. Start by breaking it down into manageable chunks...aim to lose 3 or 4lbs over the next week or two (bearing in mind it is coming up to Christmas). You might even find you lose more if you are just starting out.

Keep a log of everything you eat using your calorie app, and try to move around more than you have been. Build up the exercise very slowly so your muscles strengthen as you lose weight.

When you have lost that first 3lbs...then go for another 2lb and allow a week to do it. Slow but steady will get you there...after all, it didn't come on overnight, and your body has to be allowed to gradually change shape. Don't give up if you slip up on any one day, you are setting up a healthy eating habit for life after all!

hi. I'm also a newbie this week and I need to lose 7stone so im at the start of my journey like you as well to get the weight off. The support on this forum is brilliant and everyone is really friendly. . I'm using fitness pal to log what I'm eating and it's a real eye opener when u start to see how many calories are in food and it really does make you stop and think 'do i really want to eat that'.. I've been logging everything i eat/drink and you'll be amazed how it all adds up to your daily calorie allowance and makes you think about healthier choices to fill you up more. good luck with starting your diet x

Hello and welcome 😊 I hope you have had time to read the newbie post and get acquainted with the forum 😊Nice you have any questions pleas e just ask, we are a very friendly bunch 😊

Being fit and healthy is as much about the mental as the physical, I had to change as I was really struggling health wise. In the end that was the motivation, doing nothing wasn't an option. So I have worked really hard to change my behaviour and mental attitude, I focus on what I can eat, never say 'I can't have that' I tell myself I choose to eat healthily, that I am worth it, that my body is worth it 😊 There is loads of info out there about the psychology of over-eating, I read everything and it really helps to re train our eating habits. .

Good luck and best wishes
