Hi my name is Linda ,I'm struggling to lose weight , I don't seem to have the willpower I used to have and we'd love to lose a stone for xmas

Good morning Linda,

A stone is not to far away when you read how amazing some people are on here! 🙂

But... Don't be to harsh on yourself as that is a lot to ask for before Christmas. Why not aim for the 2lb a week so you will be happy with the results to give you the inspiration to carry on 🙂

I'm only on my 5th day and 2stone to go. So I know I won't reach my goal by Christmas but I'm hoping I will be on my way, and as long as the numbers on the scales are going down I will be happy.

Following the tips on here of less calories and more exercise seems to be the way to go 🙂

Thank you for ur reply I've got about 3 stone to lose in total I feel it's better to aim for smaller goals in a shorter period than try doing it all in a couple of mths ! X

Hi Linda - I agree with Sheepdogs - bite sized (not in the mouth) chunks is easier to achieve! I'm nearing my goal, but I did start about 10 weeks ago - but I'm pleased with my success but that's made me want to achieve more. Your willpower may increase once you see the weight coming off? Don't think that it's just a 3 week thing, it's a change of lifestyle that should stay with your forever. Good luck, I'm sure you'll achieve your goal.

I'm on day 5 too! Like you I have a couple of stone to lose too - well 36lbs to be precise - which is now 30lbs because I've lost 6lb so far this week;-) I know I won't keep up the rate of weight loss as the weeks roll on but I think you're right, slowly slowly catchy monkey. We'll get there;-) Are you doing the 1400 calories a day diet too?

Try to think about dogs. Remember 'dogs are for life not just Christmas'. What I mean to say is achieving your goal and being happy with your weight is about changing your habits for good. Its unlikely that you will succeed in the long run if you hit the diet hard with such an extreme goal. Yes you could lose almost a stone on the Atkins diet within a week but you most likely won't keep it off and after Christmas you'll be back where you started only a lot more cynical. Take off pounds that will count - slowly and sensibly. Eat healthily and feel well. Good luck ;-)

hi Linda.. like everyone says the slower it comes off the slower it goes back on again... this is my 1st week on the diet and ive no idea if I've lost any weight yet but i feel better in myself.. Everyone says to me don't worry about the scales it's how your clothes fit that counts x keep going it will be worth it x

Thanks Bigman I must say I'm paranoid about the scales ! lol I, i don't weigh every day ( like a lot do ) but tend to weigh about every 4 days because if I have lost it gives me more incentive to carry on ,everyone is different I suppose x
