Welcome fiona, if you take alook to right side of screen for pinned post some good stuff in there which may help you. anything else you need to know just ask some one will always reply

Looking at what you have to lose is always daunting! mini-goals are the motivational way I think :) it's so overwhelming to me to think I need to lose several stone (I don't even have an exact goal as it overwhelms me completely to think of one) so I'm aiming for little goals as I go :)

E.g.: size sixteen by the start of December in jeans, be in the "13"s by new year :) you get the gist. don't let yourself get daunted. This forum is amazing and there's loads of help and advice to support you on your way!

You can do it!

Hi Woodsie, it may seem daunting now, but in a few months time you will be glad you made a start as you will be several stone down and on your way to good health again.

I too had a lot to lose when I joined here, in fact my username was LotsToLose (I had 9 stone to shift) and recently changed it to LesstoLose as I only have 8lbs to lose now. So, it can be done and it isn't as hard as you think. Don't forget that at a larger weight, you can still eat quite a few calories a day and continue to lose weight. I started having about 1800 calories a day and even now, nearly at goal, I won't go below 1500. So I enjoy good food, a few treats and feel great.

Another thing that is great to do is to join in on the challenges here - you can see them on the Pinned Posts section (to the right on a PC or the bottom on a phone), they encourage you to exercise or to aim for mini-goals and are very motivating.

Anyway, good luck and make sure you have fun along the way!

Hello Fiona and welcome to the forum.

Although you're daunted by the task at hand, don't fixate too greatly upon the end goal, focusing upon the every day instead, since this is what allows goal weight to be attained.

By seeking to maintain a daily calorie deficit, reducing consumption of refined carbohydrate and gradually increasing level of activity, you'll go a long way to increasing your chances of success.

Moreover, you can now also rely upon the help, advice and support of a forum in achieving your goal, as it certainly won't give up on you.

Hi and welcome

There are a lot of us on here that need to loose a good amount of weight and everyone supporting each other

Hi Fiona. Take it small stages at a time. Little goals and think of it as a change for life not a diet. It has to be something that you can sustain for a long time. Great advice from other replies to your post. You can do it! :)

Hi Fiona, Welcome to the forum. Get excited this is the beginning you took the first step! Now hold on get started and follow along you have all the support you need anytime. Know question is to silly. There are so many aspects and feelings that come into play open up you will have up's and downs do not fear to reach out. One thing I always say to start that is simple drink 8-8oz glasses of water a day to hydrate and fill you up, alway one before a meal. Lemons go well with your water. Best wishes.
