Hi everyone

I've just signed up & hope to complete the nhs 12week weight loss plan. I've around 6 stone to lose...I've tried and failed at many diets before & simply can't face signing up at another group so hopefully I can get lots of support via this forum instead.

Hi Emmajohnson58,

Welcome to the forum, and I hope you enjoy the NHS 12 week plan. I think this is a helpful and supportive forum, and hopefully you'll find it the same!

I use an app called Myfitnesspal to help to keep track of the calories and exercise, and it makes it really easy as a result - I'd recommend that as a useful tool, alongside the 12 week NHS plan.

Also, if you fancy joining in my Monday weigh-in thread, you'd be very welcome. I post it on Mondays before 7am or thereabouts, and people who like to do a weigh-in pop in and share their weigh-in results. We had 55 people contributing to the thread last Monday. I will be here tomorrow for the Bank Holiday Monday weigh-in. I'm not expecting quite so many people, as I suspect people will be potentially on holiday, but hopefully there will be a few people around! Do drop in and introduce yourself there, if you want to! No pressure, as I know weigh-ins aren't everyone's cup of tea, and another option is to do an individual thread of your own, if you don't want to be part of a larger group. Quite a few people do their own threads - and there are some very inspiring threads to read.

Anyway, I just wanted to wish you luck with your weight loss goals.

Look forward to seeing you out and about in the forum.

Lowcal :-)

Hi Emma and welcome to our forum. It truly is a great place to find support. My advice is to try a lifestyle change rather than another diet. Keep making small maintainable changes and the weight will come off.

Lowcals' Monday thread is great and it is truly inspiring to see her tallies from the previous week as to how many people have lost each week. I don't tend to contribute as I am a Friday weigh-er but I do always have a good look.

Good luck! :)

Thanks for welcoming me onboard it's always so daunting starting over but so many people are in the same position it always makes me feel a little braver about it lol...

It certainly makes me braver - this is the only place where I share my weight :) Keep posting your successes as when you start giving advice you feel compelled to keep it up :)

You will indeed. Visit often. Thus is an inspiring and supportive place. Welcome.

Set yourself mini targets along the way. It is easier than facing 6 stone at once. Give yourself non food rewards for losing say 7lbs or so.

Welcome

Hi Emma and welcome to this community which I must say is just wonderful, friendly and motivational. I have completed the 12 week plan and still on here posting to this very day. I have kept up with this life style change for 34 weeks now and wouldn't have it any other way. The 12 week plan really does work, honest.

You must believe in you and your abilities to make a change. For the first time in my life at the beginning of this year I started to believe in myself and my abilities and this is where I am today 34 weeks on. I have lost 68 lbs with all the changes to the way I eat and I am fitter than ever since beginning exercising.

I would recommend the 12 week plan to anyone needing help with their weight loss journey and to join in with the community postings and discussions. Lowcal's Monday weigh in's are brilliant and so is she.

May I wish you a successful journey hun and good luck :-)
