Hi and welcome, Lilyorky
All of the information you need about the forum can be found in Pinned Posts healthunlocked.com/weight-l... and we hope you'll be joining all the Events, Challenges and Clubs that we run, especially a weigh-in and the daily diary.
We've found active participation to be key to successful weight loss and, of course, it's a good way to get to know people, find inspiration and share support and encouragement.
Wishing you all the best
Welcome, Lilyorkie! Looking forward to seeing you around! You’ll find lots of great support and ideas here. I do recommend the daily diary in particular, which can give you lots of ideas on different eating plans people are using to successfully lose weight. If you post your own meals you may need to remind people that your caloric needs are lower or you may get a lot of well-meaning comments about whether your calories are high enough. But do make sure your calories are high enough for you - that was a big mistake of mine when I first joined. Welcome!
Hello Juppy, thank you for the warm welcome and the advice, much appreciated. I’m still learning to navigate the health unlock app. I had tests done by a Professor who is from Oxford Uni, he has a son who has dwarfism. Professor wanted to do some medical research in regards to diet and nutrition. Professor stated I need 795 calories. Friends of mine has different type of dwarfism to me, they were allowed 1400 calories. I will definitely keep in mind if I upload my own meals to let others know that I have a lower calorie limit. Thank you one again!
Wow… 795 versus 1400! That’s a big difference. It’s good you’re getting advice from a professional. All best wishes and I look forward to seeing you. The two areas I like best are (1)the “daily diary” where people post their meal plans a day in advance… I found that really helpful to learn about different eating plans and recipes and (2) the weekly weigh in- just choose a day and join that group by posting your weight each week. (I belong to the Wednesday Wobble Warriors). It’s more than just the accountability of the weigh-in … there are lots of great people offering advice and sharing wins and challenges for the week. I hope to see you around!
Hi Juppy, yes it’s a big difference. The professor said to me Jo, lose the weight and you can have more calories 🤨 I’m in the Wednesday Wobble Warriors. I’ll fill out my daily diary. I’m enjoying meeting new people and the advice is wonderful. See you around 👍🏻😁
Hello LilyorkyWelcome to our support group. I am still quite new here myself but gaining so much from the forum. I try to give support as well and find mutual exchange very satisfying. Good luck with your weight loss journey and have some fun along the way as well.
Hello Drodie, thank you for the warm welcome. I found it difficult to lose weight on my own so I thought I’ll join nhs weight loss program. We all need encouragement with our weight loss journey. I hope to gain knowledge in healthy eating, especially when I’m lactose intolerant. Feel free to drop a line. All the best in your weight loss journey ☺️
You are so absolutely right Lilyorky. Very few people can sustain a weight loss plan without support and encouragement. I originally had an agreement with a friend that we would support each other. It very quickly became apparent that, whilst she was happy to accept shedloads of support from me, she really wasn't prepared to give me any support at all. So I joined this site and am very pleased with how things are going for me now. I put my own supportive energies into this forum, as it's a better use of my time, and my friend must find her own way. I hope you are enjoying HealthUnlocked as much as I am. Best wishes.
Good morning Drodie, so true we can’t do it on our own, that’s why I’ve failed many times. Unfortunately friends can let us down, at times you have to let them go. Really pleased that you have found support and encouragement with this group. Still finding my way round the Apps yes, I’m enjoying health unlocked, most of all meeting new people in the same boat, as we can relate to one another. It’s good to share good and positive days and the not so good days when we struggle. We can build one another up. If one has a bad day it’s important not to beat ourselves up and not to dwell on it, believe me I’ve done that. I’ve been looking at low calorie lactose free meals. Today I’ll make homemade butternut squash, extra veg soup for lunch and dinner going to have a tuna steak with lots of salad. Best wishes.
Welcome Lilyorky and best of luck with your health goals! I'm sure you'll find lots of helpful support here. 🙂
Hello , just read the post you left me, wishing you all the best in your journey 🙂
