Hi, I'm new to this, I'm looking to loose about 2 stones, I have tried everything and tend to loose motivation very quickly, been through a divorce, moved areas, work and look after my 2 girls so find it stressfull and my food is my comfort. Thank you.

Hi Anita44 Welcome

Try the 12 week program link is here nhs.uk/Tools/Documents/WEIG...

I look to my son to give me my motivation making sure i will be around for him, as a ex binge eater i understand the comfort of food but its really not worth the health risks and it will never make you truley happy. I still enjoy my food but i watch what i eat and count every cal.

Aww bless you Richard, I know what you mean, my girls are 10 and 12 and they rely on me to run them around on errands, I had a bad arthritis flare up recently which has been controlled for a long time, so change of medicine has helped very much. I know loosing the weight helps the pressure on the joints, hopefully we can achieve our goals not just for ourselves but for our families x. Good luck x

Good for you Anita44 , you've come to the right place. This is the start of something new and I hope very soon you start to reap the rewards. I too have just joined the forum (a couple of weeks ago) and everyone here is so helpful and supportive. We're all in the same boat! I have two little girls as well (mine are 22 months and 9 months!) and they keep me motivated. It's hard work! But look to them for support and motivation, and you will be able to do this!

Try and find alternatives to the comfort food, because it is only "comforting" until we've eaten it! Do something else, keep yourself busy! Alternatively, as a gradual process, try swapping those comfort foods for a healthier alternative.

Good luck and looking forward to seeing you around the forum xx

Hi Anita,

Welcome to the NHS Weight Loss Forum here on HealthUnlocked - this forum is a great place for support, motivation and inspiration to lose weight.

Take a look at the NHS 12 Week Plan, it contains recipes and exercise plans to follow for the first twelve weeks of your journey.

Take a look at the left of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile device) and find the 'Pinned Posts' section, here you can find various challenges that are going on in the forum (take part in whatever ones take your fancy - if any do at all!), there is also a recipe collation there and any important posts from Admin :)

Also to your left is the 'Topics' area, here you can find posts related to each topic, it's good if you are looking for something specific :)

The Monday Group Weigh In takes place weekly and is posted alternately by Zest and moreless (who are also our site admins), a morning session post is put live just before 06:30 and runs until midday, while the afternoon session runs from midday until 18:00 on the Friday of that week - yesterday's afternoon session is still open, so, if you wish, you can go and post your starting weight there :P

All that remains is to wish you a great first week on the forum - be involved because it's where we get our boost each day

Rob :D

I'm new too. So much about this is psychological and just being in the right place in your head is all you need to start off with. If you're anything like me you'll have trouble believing you can stick to it longterm, but it's so great on here to see examples of people who've done just that. I've stopped giving myself a hard time about it and am taking things 1 day at a time and then those days will become weeks......don't worry about tomorrow at the moment just make the most of today! Good luck! 😆

Thanks hun, I'm trying too hard I reckon thats why I fall just as quick, I have an ideal image in my head which probably isn't realistic, too much pressure to look a certain type especially as I'm in my 40s and don't want to grow old yet :(.

40 is the new 20 well thats what a 80yr old told me and dont conform to the typical type be you and only you. find a weight you are happy with and what makes you happy not others.

Hi, there. Just stopping by to wish you all the best.

Trouble with trying to lose weight is you end up thinking about food all the time. Just had a lovely lunch, now waiting for dinner!

Hi Lori, thanks for that, I think its all in the head LOL, need to retrain the brain, I can do it as lost 5 stone few years ago, but have gained about 2 and a bit since leaving ex. Hopefully we can all reach our goals, I'm having minted chops for dinner with slimming world chips and loads of veg :). Good luck to you 2 x

Hi Minniewinny, I have lost nearly a stone and joined a gym and seem to be loosing inches instead of weight recently. Had a bad Bank holiday weekend though as went away with my 2 girls and ate everything not good for you!!! Back on track today as feel sluggish now.

How are you getting on, I hope you are doing good too :) I appreciate the cheer on. Let me know how you are. TC :)
