Hi Rob - from another Rob,

Welcome to the NHS Weight Loss forum - it's a great place for inspiration, support and motivation!

It's important that you look on the bright side :) I was 28st at 23 years old, 15 months ago. I'm just over 20st now - it is do able. :)

Take a look at the right hand side of your screen (bottom if you're on a mobile device) at the 'pinned posts' area - here is a collation of various useful posts (such as the 'Welcome Newbie' post and challenges that are currently being run on the forum - take part in what ever you want to)

In that 'Pinned Posts' section, there is also a collation of recipe ideas, they will always come in useful too :D

The Monday Weigh In group is posted weekly, Zest and moreless , who are also our approachable site admins alternate the posting of the thread between them. There is a morning thread (if you weigh in between 06:30 until midday) and an afternoon/evening thread (from midday on Monday until 6pm on the Friday of that week).

The topics section, underneath the 'pinned posts' area will give you all of the posts related to that topic - it's useful if you're looking for something specific! :)

Finally, all that remains is to wish you a great first week on the forum!

Chin up!

Best wishes,

Rob :D

Hi Rob, You have come to the right place for weight loss help. I joined up in August with 4-5 stone to lose, and I have almost lost my first stone. It is scary when you hear these kinds of words from your doctor but, don't panic, if you follow the NHS 12 week plan you will succeed in losing weight.

This forum is very friendly and supportive so please do feel free to post your worries and concerns and you will get good advice.

Wishing you all the best.

Hi Rob and welcome from me too.

Rob L and Ruby have pointed you in the right direction so you know where to start.

We are all here for the same reason and together we will get there.

Tips

Log all your food ( find out your allowance using the BMI calculator.

Drink lots of water.

Up the steps/exercise if only a little each week to start with.

Keep on her for help and to advise back we all need a little help now and again.

Set yourself a small goal, reach it and move on.

Celebrate your success and share with others (post on here), claim your weight loss badges, maybe join a fitness group/gym locally if you feel ready for it.

3stone is doable just look at Rob L another few pounds and I will have lost 3 stone since May 19th with still some more stones yet to go.

If you want to change your posting name bigfatrob is negative how about something more positive something like lucky7plus1 as you must have a good heart to look after all those animals and lucky they are too.

Good luck you can do this 👍😊 Bev

Hi Rob,

Your name showed up in my emails. No posts since you joined, so I'm wondering how you are? Your user name made me laugh! However, I do agree with others that having a positive approach really does help with achieving aims.

I too live alone in an isolated situation. Joined just over 2 weeks back, have had a bit more energy (in process of recovering from 22 years of chronic disease). Now able to be more active which feels so good after such a long time.

I haven't lost much weight because if I cut down on food I lose energy. I guess my absorption of nutrients isn't optimal; but I am getting stronger, more flexible and better toned just from gardening. I like to think muscles are rebuilding.

I hope you'll feel encouraged to share your ups and downs to feel part of a supportive community.
