I like so many people on this forum had tried many diets but always put the weight back on and more. The trouble was I would start off on 1500 calories a day great for the first few weeks but sooner or later the resolve loosens and your back to your old ways. The reason for trying the 12 week challenge was a tv programme I watched one evening I'm not sure what it was called but it was one of the many emergency programmes that are on there was a man in his forties like me overweight like me who had a heart attack the medics battled to save his life as they were doing this his two young children and wife just like I have arrived at the hospital the youngest was crying his heart out he didn't want his daddy to die. I sat with tears streaming down my face and vowed I'm not going to put my children through that ordeal just because I cant control my eating habits the good news the man survived and changed his life style around. So I decided to look on the internet for help don't ask how I found health unlocked but I did and what a find its been. Loads of great ideas from friendly like minded people I just new this was the place for me. Over the weeks people ask are you on a diet? I tell them no I'm changing my lifestyle to a healthy one. Ive eaten food a certain way for forty years now is the time to change. Week 1 was great none of the 1500cl starvation tactics I did the BMI calculator and found I was to have 2300cl a day nice and easy to adjust to. One of the great pearls of wisdoms I learnt the first week was its not a sprint to lose weight but a marathon nice and easy pace, if it takes 1,2 or 5 years so be it the most important thing is your changing your life to a healthy one. As each week passes you learn more great tips like when you finnish your food if you still feel hungry wait 30 minutes then see how you feel not once after waiting 30 minutes did I still feel hungry. Week 7 was a real tearjerker since starting the plan ive made sure as a family we have either been for a nice long walk or bike ride on this weekend as we were about to set off on are bike ride my five year old came over to me gave me a great big kiss and hug and said daddy I love you so much I love when were all together out on are bikes I felt so ashamed that I hadn't been spending every weekend doing this with my family. As the weeks have gone by i have loved reading the many great and inspirational posts and when I'm out walking I think of the many fellow posters out there doing their walking and exercises it gives me a great lift and drive to carry on when I'm feeling tired. I might have finished the 12 week plan 31 lb lighter but I know I have another 40lb to go but boy am I looking forward to the next part of this fabulous journey. Keep up the great work everyone don't worry if you don't lose each week hang on in there it will happen and remember your only a click away from a friend on here. A great big thankyou for all the great replys ive received over the last 12 weeks it means a lot to me and fills me with great pride to be part of this fantastic forum .
