What I absolutely love about the "Healthunlocked" Forum

I was thinking the other day about the *technical* aspects that make this forum so great. Here are my thoughts but you might also know of some other things that are great here. Apart from the friendly people that is! Here it goes:

-I love how you do not get to see how many people have seen a thread versus how many have replied. Many forums give an indication of the number of people who have read the thread PLUS the number of people who have answered. I remember when posting on those forums I used to feel so deflated at the number of views my threads would get (say, 100) and the number of answers (like...0. Or 1). Here we do not get that number and I think that is great.

-I love the "like" feature and I love the notifications for "likes". Every single person that has clicked "like" on one of my messages I feel I have a special relationship with! It's like a secret between me and that person. A nice nudge, an acknowledgement. It does not take any time at all, but you know the other person on the other hand gets a notification. Brill. I got so many positive vibes just through those "likes".

-I love the "community" aspect whereby you can lock some of your messages so only members of said community can read it. I do not do it on all my posts but I like the fact the option is there.

-I love how colourful it is

-I love how you can easily get to read posts from a specific user just by clicking on his or her nickname. Ok not specific to this forum but somehow I find it easier. The difference between posts and replies is nice. Plus people can still choose to make them private if they want. Brill again.

Anything I've missed? I wish more forums were like this one technically, although they still wouldn't be a patch on our weight loss community if they don't have Lowcal, Moreless, FizzyLizz, Ruth_canal_runner , suzybenj, dave , you name it. Without YOU all reading this now basically!!

Fantastic and positive post Nussaybah! You've made me ashamed of the way I've moaned about the quirks and foibles evident with the site. I am still irritated by them, but I agree that the general format is good.

I do like all the things you've mentioned and I shall leave it there, for fear of putting a negative spin on a smashing post

Thank you for the mention in dispatches, but really what makes this forum work, is the whole community, in all it's diverse glory and splendour and of course, you're one such valued member

Also the supportive quality of the comments, not just from the moderators but the whole community . I've really been impressed by the quality of the replies when someone speaks of a difficulty. They include commonsense and warmth.

Just as a by-the-by derrygeel, all of the names listed in Nussaybah's thread are just ordinary, enthusiastic, members of the community and not official in any capacity.

You very rarely see hide, nor hair of a moderator or administrator on this forum

Now that I think of it I have never seen one here either!! I know who's who in Couch to 5k forum but that's because you need to contact some mods for your "graduate" badge. But in Weight Loss, never!

The only time I ever saw one and you probably overlooked it, was when we had a thread asking about new year healthy resolutions.

Most of the other threads have a lot of input from the administrators, but here, we're left to our own devices.
