Hi Elaine and welcome to this friendly supportive forum.
Take a look at the pinned posts section on the right of the screen especially the newbies post.
Join any challenges as you wish and the weigh in is Monday's am or pm.
I am currently on week 19 of the 12 week plan going second time around. So it is easy to download and follow it changes your way of inking about foods and what's in the foods we eat.
I use a fit bit to check calories, steps, exercise etc but there are many others on the market also myfitnesspal on the net which of course is free.
I too am 56 started my journey on May 19th this year at 17.1 stone as of Monday I was 14.7 so the plan works. I just walk more and use the treadmill to up my steps I will go swimming later when I have lost more weight.
Since being on the plan I have given up white bread and only have a small amount of wholemeal, I have changed my chocolate to dark so don't eat too much now.
I am sure you will be ok just get your head round the forum, stay active on it as it gives you so much encouragement and of course give advice if you can.
I am 55 and have lost almost three stone over the last 14 months. (It's taken me longer as I've been pretty much the same weight since June, long story . . .)
It is definitely harder post menopause!! Grrr π‘ But possible π if you accept it will take time. I follow a generous plan, with treats allowed (I 'save' calories for the weekend) and focus on enjoying my food, trying new recipes, watching portion size and increasing exercise.
