Im Gail. Been thin most of my life but after being diagnosed with depression and taking the meds and now going through the dreaded menopause I have gained weight.
Also will be having gallbladder surgery soon too so basically all the joys of growing older. I'm not as active as I once was due to the gallbladder pain and having no one to do active things with. Its boring for me doing them alone but it looks as though I will have to tough it out.
I was learning to golf and was ten pin bowling which kept my weight down but developed a rotator cuff injury and cannot do either at the moment. I am a photographer and even holding my camera and editing photos on the PC is very painful. Doing the physio route for that...
That said, I have a sweet little dog who takes me for walks which is a help. He keeps me active to a point. I have tried to get my husband to be more active and exercise with me but the only exercise he gets is on his pc keyboard where he lives for 16 hours a day. No its not his job, he is retired....
I will be volunteering at the West Suffolk Hospital in February after my training. Looking forward to that as i will be taking patients for walks and helping with people who have dementia.
So maybe there might be someone here who lives in the Bury St Edmunds area of Suffolk who might want to be a weigh loss buddy? If so get in touch. Maybe we can help each other.
Thanks for reading. Hope you are not asleep by now.....
Gail

Hi and welcome to the community!! Sorry you have to do it alone. I have my mil to walk with every day and it's nice. How about listen to some music and see it as a peaceful time for you.
Hello and welcome to the Weight Loss Forum longliz1888 😊
You are not alone in battling a spreading waistline that accompanies the menopause 😂 I hope you will gain support and friendship on the forum and we can help you get fitter and slimmer
I'd like to invite you to join our Newbie Club, which we hope will be a good place for you to connect with members, who are also just starting out. If you just post a few words to introduce yourself and respond to others there, you'll soon break the ice. Here's the link
You'll find all the information you need to navigate the forum in the header and a link to the 12 week plan, so please take the time to read it carefully.
Welcome Gail, sorry to hear that things are tough for you at the moment. Gall bladder pain is excruciating. I hope your operation is soon. Roots cuff injury is no fun either!
However, the good news is that what we eat has more of an impact on our weight than exercise so all is not lost.
The best advice I have to offer is to come on here regularly and chat to a whole bunch of supportive folk.
There are obviously things working against you but you're sounding positive, so keep that positive edge and work on the things you can You'll get loads of support and ideas on this forum so come here for a grumble, and to let us know how you're getting on
Welcome Gail. You are not alone. Just going into week 2 for me and this forum has been a big help. I hope you get your health/injury issues sorted out soon as that can't help mentally as well as physically. I'm also currently going through menopause stuff and is lasting years! Main current problem is the hot flushes which means no good night sleep for months and months...and I live my sleep and I also tend to make poor food choices if tired.
I'm unfortunately not near you location wise but have just moved to a location where I know no-one. I am lucky that my hubby likes walking but I have to do a lot of things alone. Have you tried a leisure centre for eg swimming or group exercise classes? I have also had mild depression as symptom and the exercise really helps me.
