Welcome to the Weight Loss NhS forum, and I hope you'll enjoy being part of this community. Glad you've already got your Week 1 sheet of the NHS 12 week plan at the ready, and I really hope you'll find it easy to follow and good luck with pre-planning your meals. In the Pinned posts, I'd recommend taking your time, having a read - especially the Welcome Newbie post, and maybe the Recipe collation post, if you're looking for some ideas for meals - we also have some great meal ideas in the Topics area - Recipes/Meals/Snacks is the topic title. Worth a look.
Maybe join our Monday group weigh-in, if you'd like to do that. You can see the latest thread in the Events section (below the Pinned posts).
Welcome angelainexeter to this very friendly and helpful forum. You have definitely come to the right place for motivation and advice. 😀
The good thing about the nhs12wk plan is that it's not a diet its a healthy eating plan with good advice on how to tweek your existing food, control portions, healthy snacking and moving more 🏃
Along with all the helpful advice, hints and tips from this forum this is something you can sustain for life 👍
Join in with the forum as much as possible and follow the plan and slowly but surely you will succeed in the weight loss journey...if I can do it so can you 💖
Good luck. Claire x
Hi angelainexeter
A really warm welcome to you. You've come to the right place, this place has helped so many of us and I have no doubt that it will help you too.
There are loads of advice on here, most of which has been highlight and pinned in the top right-hand section of this forum; so they're really accessible and user friendly. Of course, if there is anything you want to ask or just want a rant then feel free to do so; I often read through others' posts and get the answers to my own questions before I have had a chance to make a thread about it, which is always great! I have also used this place as a place to come to to 'unburden' myself when I feel particularly low or stressed and people here have always been a huge support towards me.
You might like to join any, or all of our challenges, for extra motivation and we have a brand new Winter Solstice challenge starting on monday and we'd love to see you there
A new thread will be posted by Hidden on monday, but you can register your intent to join, on the thread that's in the pinned posts, to the right of your screen (bottom, if you're using a mobile).
I'm delighted that you're wanting to join us and look forward to seeing how you progress
Thank you. I need to succeed for my self and my health. No looking back
Good morning angelainexeter
Fear of failing hey. Well without failure you would never experience the feelings of success. Look at failure as learning curves that you must go back and look at in order to progress further the next time.
Get a smaller plate. That really does work wonders. Don't skip breakfast ever. It really is the most important meal of the day. If you take sugar in tea or coffee then ditch it. That one move alone can save you over 10lbs of weight a year. Try and get out and do some exercise. Walking is just fine. Just make sure you are going at a pace where you can hear your own breath but at a pace you can hold a full conversation at.
Good luck and keep motivated. A few years ago I was over 25 stone and today I am running a half marathon having lost over 155lbs....No operations. No fad diets. Just winning and failing...
Hello angelainexeter 😊 You have some wonderful replies here from the lovely people on this forum 😊 My only advice is don't try to rush or be tempted to eat too little. If you work out your metabolic rate (BMR) on the NHS site it will suggest a daily calorie target (often more than you think) for steady but sustainable weight loss 😊 Very best wishes with your journey 😊
