but having steadily gained over 2 stone in weight over the past two years since I am going to try the 12 week plan. I want to find a way of eating and living that keeps my weight within the normal BMI range without having to think too much about it. I used to enjoy vigorous exercise but have bursitis in all my major joints so am limited to what exercise I can do. Walking and gardening are my main forms of exercise and I would go swimming if I didn't feel so hideously fat but that is something I will try and get back to.

Hello and welcome to the weight loss forum Daisy1925 😊
A good place to start is Pinned Posts section, to the right of your screen (bottom, if you're using a mobile) and have a look at the Welcome Newbies thread.
The Topics section beneath that is also worth a look for posts that could answer any questions you may have. Consider joining any, or all, of our challenges, as they're fun and motivating.
Also, if you wish, join us for the Monday Group weigh-in. If you follow Lowcal and Moreless (our very approachable site Admins), you'll be notified when they post the threads. The latest weigh-in thread can always be found in the Events section, to the right of the home page.
Being active on the forum, as that's where we exchange ideas and chat is an excellent way to keep motivated 😊
Weight loss is more about food than exercise so don't feel you can't do it because if your Heath issues. my own weight crept up due to health problems and inactivity so I understand where you are coming from. 😊 Very best wishes 😊
Welcome Daisy1925, you are in the right place! I can relate having RA diagnosed in my 30's. I couldn't exercise for a long time off meds and my weight piled on, but now its more stable I've upped the game again with long walks, playing hockey and trying to run when I can! But I used to play netball, squash and go cycling & circuit training too before with vigorous exercise at least 6 days a week. I too love swimming but was put off by me in a swimming costume lol, but I have a 5yr old son learning to swim so this has spurred me to be brave and get out there with him. We do worry more about how we look than others I think!! Gardening is a good form of exercise too so do what you are able, weight loss is 80% what you eat so bear that in mind, even if you can't exercise much just moving more will help and if you take control of your diet the weight will come off. Good luck!!
Hi Daisy1925
Gardening is very good for you and so is walking. If you can brave it go swimming, that'll do you loads of good as it takes all your weight and you're free to have fun! I'll be honest, when I first started getting back into fitness I was dreading going to the pool in my cosy but now I don't even think about it because once I am in that water I'm fine. The way i see it is that no one looks too great in a cosy anyway, or at least not at my leisure centre lol.
Good luck and remember, you CAN do this!

Hi, two years ago I had 2 stone to lose as well... and I lost it all within that year. However, I'm not sure it can be done without seriously having to think about it , as that's the only way you can be sure of keeping within your calorie allowance ( which in itself has to decrease as you get smaller. In my case I lost the first stone on 1400 cals but had to reduce to 1200 for the final half stone ) . I achieved it and have maintained ever since on approximately 1500 and a fair amount of walking. Once you achieve target you can maybe maintain by portion control alone but each person is different. Good luck ☺
Hi Daisy125 I have just discovered you are only 1 mile from where I live, found on"" folk near you. " How are you doing from 18 days ago when you came on here? I will look for your post next week, "
