Struggling with breakfast

So, I know breakfast is the right thing to do, but I have no appetite in the morning, all I want is two cups of coffee! Some day I have managed it, yogurt, fruit and/or a slice of my fave fruited soda bread. Is it good enough to just have a banana mid morning? I can manage that...?!

Some days I have breakfast, some days I have brunch, some days i don't eat till lunch - its what fits in with you and how you feel. If eating breakfast makes you feel worse don't do it!

It's actually been shown that reducing your eating window, can be beneficial to weight loss, so eating between the hours of 11am and 7pm, or 12 noon and 8pm would fit in with that theory perfectly :)

Why eat when you're not hungry? You could enjoy those calories a lot more, a couple of hours later :)

I do eat breakfast, but not until I've been awake for two-three hours, done my exercises, had a shower etc . . . I agree it's important but it doesn't have to eaten very early 😊

I have the two cups of coffee and have something before or after (banana or a slice of bread with olive oil or fresh tomato...). Usually it does the trck and then you can have a fruit as a break around 10 or 11.

I agree you should do what your body asks for (in agreement with the logic of health) so if it doesn't feel right don't do it :)

It's fine to just have coffee in the morning. As long as it doesn't make you snack on unhealthy foods during the morning or make you so hungry by lunchtime that you make bad choices, it's quite healthy.

I do 16/8 intermittent fasting. A lot of people who follow that skip breakfast entirely and it works really well. (Personally I skip dinner ... breakfast is my favourite meal!)

All I want is three cups of coffee. You might find this an interesting read:

I love breakfast, it is my favourite meal of the day! Also seems to put fuel in the tank do I'm not so bothered about eating later...

Heya. I would say listen to your body - no point forcing yourself to eat. Although caffeine is an appetite suppressant so that could be partly why youre not hungry in the morning. Also perhaps add a handful of almonds or roasted seeds to your mid morning snack, as the protein will help balance your blood sugar. ☺

Thanks for all the interesting replies. I love my morning coffee, and just work through to my lunch at 12. Sometimes I would grab a banana, or in my pre diet days a pain au raisin.(!) I take on board the issue about how breakfast can stimulate your metabolism however. Well, I won't overthink it...Might make some granola bars and keep them handy.

Great idea! Granola bars are yum. Ive been meaning to make this recipe for a while:

The oats will benefit from toasting, other than that you just put the bars in the fridge in a tin.

I like using raw honey to sweeten things as i think its the healthiest sweetner, and obvioulsy the fact that these are no bake bars means the honey stays raw.

Hi , I'm sorry for my stance but I think I think your all mostly wrong,

Yes you are the decision maker avd best to act accordingly but plz kindly deeply think about following points::

1. Perhaps u don't want breaky cause u not hungry- why? - cause u eat too much too late nite before .

2. A normal timely day Inc time of getting up avd going to sleep and Reg eating times all have historically proven that they motivate good health. Even for nite shift workers the consistent patterns help create good health.

If it any help - I Always been told my few Probs : must dos

1. Eat at right time avd don't skip meals especially breaky as vital for energy brain abd movement will work it off .

2. Eat slowly - chew more each mouthful 20 chews . Slow down - if u out a breath whilst eating - you doing it wrong - don't chomp n swallow plz .

3. Portion sizes - use u both hands as u plate size , divide into 4 , meat , carbs , salad / or another salad - not piled in mountains- equal portions - but u allowed extra salad etc

4. More movement / excersize even just Reg walking build up a sweat - And drink plenty of water - I'm 6'3 and 290lbs I drink maybe 5lt plus daily - timely

You know your body better than anyone . But sometimes we think our habits normal .

Good luck

My apologies if I offended anyone

All human beings owe it to all to help all at anytime abd fir any reason.

Thanks

Mr h .🙏👍🍒👌🇮🇳😇🆗😂❤️😎🆒

Personally, I think it's fine to eat just a banana for breakfast, if you enjoy it. What's more important is not then collapsing into a cappucino and muffin at around 11am because you are hungry.

You could try eating your breakfast at whatever point in the morning you are first hungry, and then having more of a proper breakfast than just a banana, even if that is around 9am or 10am etc. Make that your regular breakfast time.

I think it is quite important to try and have meals at around the same time each day - I am sure that this helps our systems deal with food and know when to expect stuff coming in. So try and eat your breakfast at a set time, whenever that happens to be.

Hi! I used to love having cereal and banana for breakfast but learned from a good ebook that it spikes your adrenalin and can cause your body to store fat... and your morning coffee may be doing that too... (sorry, not intending to be negative) - so I have a protein brekkie now and feel much better. A couple of boiled eggs or some tuna with wholegrain rice cakes, or quinoa. I think if you are wanting to lose weight and be healthy it's best to eat when you get up.

I have never been able to eat breakfast much. I find when I do eat breakfast these are the days I find myself hungry before lunch. Any days I don't eat breakfast I eat my lunch between 12pm-1pm. Someone tell me how eating breakfast any better for me. I have never been a big eater and only tend to eat lunch and dinner. It is very rare I eat anything else. Although since I have been on this diet I am finding myself eating more and more just to reach the calorie intake as I was only eating around 1100 calories. The strange thing is I am actually managing to slowly lose weight by eating more.

Everybody's metabolism is different. If you've found what works for losing weight (and keeps you healthy), then stick with it.
