A pretty fit old guy, likes hill walking, golf and cycling.

I would love to get into my trousers I wore 6 years ago when I still worked. (Wouldn't we all !!!)

Hi RiccoShay,

Welcome to the forum. It's a very friendly, encouraging and helpful site, where we are all on the same journey to health.

If you haven't already, please read the Welcome Newbies post. It's in the Pinned Posts section, to the right of your screen, (bottom if you're on a mobile). It has a link to the NHS 12 week plan, which is a great place to start. It doesn't give a specific diet plan, but gives guidelines for healthy eating.

You may also like to check out how many calories you should have each day using the BMI checker.

Perhaps consider joining in our challenges, they're fun to do and help with motivation.

We also have a Monday group weigh-in posted by one of the Fab5ers, usually Lowcal who is on her hols at the moment so moreless, another Fab5er, is doing it. To give you some idea of what this is about, you can have a look at the latest thread in the events section, to the right of the home page. The weigh in is entirely voluntary, but I find it helps keep me accountable. If you want, it's not too late to join in this week's, you have until 6pm Wednesday to reply to the thread if you want.

Good luck 😀

My partner is 67 and has lost a stone since I started my diet at the beginning of the year - he was never very big to start with! He has gone from 12st 6lbs to 11st 3lbs, basically be sharing my calorie counted meals, smaller portions, fewer sugary cakes, biscuits and desserts, and wine only every other day! (Annoyingly I have had to give up the wine completely to keep losing my weight).

Find an online calorie Counting App like myfitnesspal or nutracheck to record what you eat, set yourself a limit of around 1500 calories daily and eat what you enjoy within reason, increasing your protein, fruit and veg and reducing your carbs (bread, pastry, rice, pasta) and avoiding high sugar or very fatty content foods.

Plan a few more of those hill walks with friends (or wear a GPS tracker so folks know where you are), and you will soon be back in those smaller trousers!

Hi and welcome to the forum. Like you at 76 I am an oldie here and I think like me you will find all the support you need here. Whether you want to vent about something, have concerns or questions there will always be someone to sympathise, cheer your successes or suggest solutions. Hope it's not too long before you get into these trousers !
