Newbie All Advice Welcome: Hi i just... - Weight Loss Support
Newbie All Advice Welcome
Hi Emma-brady
Welcome to the Weight Loss NHS forum. I am sure you will find our Welcome Newbies post helpful, as there's lots of helpful tips and advice in there - and also a link to the NHS 12 week plan too, which I would recommend as a good structure to follow. It might help you keep on track and focused.
If you start off concentrating on trying to eat a bit more healthily, aiming for a little at a time, and small steps, it doesn't seem quite as scary.
We are currently changing some of our systems (for the better I hope) so keep an eye on the Pinned Posts as there's plenty going on here at present with many people all trying to lose a few pounds, particularly after Christmas.
4st is just a number... but if you break it down into smaller chucks and aim for 7lbs initially it makes it seem a lot more doable... I myself need to lose 6st and have set myself a 7lb a month goal so by Jan I'm hoping to see my 1st badge against my name.
Stick with us and look at the nhs plan to get some ideas to get you started.
Good luck x
Hi, I have also come across this post. I used to weigh 9 stone. Never looked skinny at that weight just looked healthy. I now weigh 12 stone 8lbs and trying to kid myself that I'm ok. This is a brilliant site. Good luck and let's do this.
I'm just starting out too. Good luck
I've just downloaded the booklets you suggest - they're excellent. I'd never thought of foods before as being Real or Fake, I like the way the information is presented so colourfully, in picture form. Really helpful to remind you of what not to eat.....think I went a bit mad over Christmas though !
Thanks for the advice everyone -
Hi Emma. I'm in the same boat. Similar start weight 13st. Got minimum 3st to loose. (NHS suggests 8-10st). Seems impossible. Someone suggested to me to set 7lb targets. So that's what I'm doing now. Still seems hard. So my ideas are:
First 2 weeks loose 7lb so 12st 7lb weigh in
(I'm away end of Jan for week and eating out 3 meals a day so staying same then would be a success!)
Then by end of Feb weigh 12st or less (so another month to loose next 7lb)
Then end march 11st 7lb or less (3rd milestone)
Then I know it gets harder as I near my goal so
End of April around 11st
End of May 10st 10lb
End of June 10st 7lb
End of July 10st 3lb
End of Aug 10st reached goal!
If I can carry on I'd love to be less than 10st but that seems the best I can hope for at the moment!
