New to this group..I am really hoping to lose about 80-90 pounds in the next year I have a medical condition known as Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome it is a lot harder for women with this condition to lose weight I don't eat much during the day and I just quit smoking a few days ago. Any tips on meeting my goal?

I have PCOS too - I am on dianette (pill) which controls symptoms well and also seems to not have the side effect of weight gain!

However I too find it super hard to loose weight and super easy to gain!

I find exercise helps and a variety of exercises, maybe look heavily at portion control and not snacking between meals - also check you are actually eating enough.

I am new to the site also so maybe we could help each other ☺️

I really don't eat much during the day sometimes I have lunch but sometimes I don't but I do eat dinner, and usually around midnight I will eat some leftovers from dinner lol. What kind of symptoms does this Dianette pill have? I would love to have a friend on here and to help each other out.

It's a pill where the risks have to outweighed by the benefits as it can cause depression - but it helps with hair growth, spots etc

By the sounds of it regulating to three meals a day might help and cut Out the late night snack x

Hi Mama_Duck_14 and also welcome to Kirstiexx too - I see you're both Newbies - so Welcome to the NHS weight loss forum. Have you seen our Welcome Newbie post yet? It's worth a read, as it's full of information from existing forum members, and there is a link there to the NHS 12 week plan, which is really good. Many of us follow that plan, and have had good results.

I know you both have the medical condition of PCOS - so it's good that you've already linked together for mutual support. There may be some information in the NHS Choices website relevant to your condition, but I expect you already have lots of information from your GP - but you could always have a look to see what other information there might be - as it could help.

Maybe join the Monday group weigh-in? It's very motivating to be part of a large group of like-minded people trying to achieve our goals, so do join us there if you think it would be motivating for you. The session will be posted just before 6.30am tomorrow, and you can join in at any time of the day or evening. See the Events section (below the Pinned posts) for a link to the latest thread.

Have a great week, and good luck with your goals,

Lowcal :-)

Yeah I eat a lot of chicken mostly some red meat but maybe like once or twice a month and I live on a monthly budget with a lot of picky eaters that don't like vegetable so it is very hard for me to choose what I buy lol. I would still love to help each other out :).

Hi Mama

There have been several posts on here about PCOS, if you want to see them use the small search box on the right top of this page.

You need to keep your insulin levels under control as much as you can. Cut out sugar and 'white' carbs, keep any carbs you eat high fibre and low GI. Some people find they need to cut down on dairy as well. Eat good quality protein and lots of veg. As well as the 12 week plan, have a look at Michael Mosely's "Blood Sugar Diet" for useful advice.

Good luck with your weight loss.
