I was the same I have done slimming groups and I wouldn't say you have failed as slimming groups are not for everyone. Just following the nhs plan and focus not on dieting but healthy eating, portion control and exercise.
I calorie count which is a bit of a chore but it is working also measuring your food to help with portion control is good.
Hiya Helen, I have been in a similar boat for 3 years since having my little one. Switching from one class to another and not succeeding. I decided to do it at home alone with my fitness pal to log my calories. The amazing news is, i soon realised that I wasnt alone on the forums and actually feel more support than a class. Lots of diaries to read, daily chats to join and before you know a week has passed and your still motivated.
I'm sure our amazing admin will point you in the right direction of the newbie link and would recommend going on the nhs site to calculate your calories ( if thats the path you chose)
Good luck
Hi I have tried slimming world but it was not for me. I use my fitness pal it seems to work great for me I feel like I'm in control x
Hi and welcome to the forum Helen2812
I don't spend money or time going to slimming world or weight watchers, I just use the the forum and weigh in on here, just chose a day to weigh in and stick to that day, there are daily weigh in's so you can chose which day best suits you
Have a look at the NHS 12 week plan, yes it's calorie counting and a chore to start with but I set up a spreadsheet of my regular foods and homemade regular recipes and now it's a doddle This is NOT a diet but a healthy way of eating Also check the BMI calculator which will give you your personal calorie range
All of this is found in the Newbie Club therefore, I would like to invite you to join our Newbie Club, which we hope will be a good place for you to connect with members, who are also just starting out, or re-starting.

It just remains for me to wish you well on your journey
ive tried all the slimming clubs and they all work but i just lose interest or cant stay for classes and just basically end up paying for someone to weigh me... save yourself some money and join us here on this forum and log your weight in a daily weighin of your choice at a time that suits you... it much easier and cheaper and there is loads of support at times when you need it... 😁.
Good luck with starting x
Hello Helen. As I am certainly not a very active member on this site, it may sound strange for me to say that this site is helping me tremendously. I read my email every morning - usually with a cup of tea before breakfast. It helps to focus and guide my day.
On a practical note I am doing calorie counting which gives me freedom in regards to food choices and meal sizes. I decided when I started that any plan would work IF I stuck to it and this is the one that doesn't make me feel deprived and rebellious.
I read this on a blog: 'Your level of interest and enthusiasm will determine your level of success' and this site and the wonderful people on it has allowed me to to find meaningful engagement with my eating plan (and not the punitive dialogue that I was used to engaging on my own).
Best of luck on your healthy journey!
