Hi all, missed the weigh in on Monday but am new here weighing in at 75kg and according to the guidelines need to lose at least 15kg. Don't think I would even want to be that thin as it is really ageing and being already 70 I need all the help I can get. However will make a decent attempt. Have a good week. x

Good morning! I think you are absolutely right to use your own judgement about the right weight for you. You'll know when you reach it based on how clothes fit and how you feel. I have spent 6 months getting into the healthy BMI zone, finally arrived a couple of weeks ago, and i am taking it a week at a time to see where i want to stop. Good luck on your journey; this is the right place to start!

Hi Suzeinfrance,

Welcome to the Weight Loss NHS forum. The guidelines are just that, a recommendation, so set your own goals, in accordance with your preferences and what feels right for you. I'd like to wish you success on your weight loss journey. Have you seen our Welcome Newbie post - it's in the Pinned posts area (top right-hand-side of the homepage).

If you'd like to be included in the stats for the Monday group weigh-in as a Newbie, you're very welcome to add to the thread asap - as I don't calculate the weekly stats till the weekend usually - or you can wait for next Monday's thread, whichever you prefer. Here's a link to last Monday's thread, incase you want to contribute beforehand:

Good luck with your first week, hope you enjoy it.

Hello and welcome

I am desperately trying to get below 70 kg 😊 I started out at 85 so I'm well on my way but can't seem to find those pesky sixties!! I agree with you though, according to NHS guidelines my 'ideal' BMI sets my goal quite low so am going to review at 65kg (10 stone)

Good luck 😊
