This week I've lost a 1Ib π, I've had a really productive week and feeling loads better.
Has any one tried or made cauliflower pizza ?, my friend has given me a recipe from her Slimming World magazine. It sounds really nice and depending on what you put on it could be a substantial, balanced meal. you blitz the cauliflower, mix it with egg then bake, once cool put your topping on !. Sounds easy !!
I'm loving the challange but finding the more I do the more hungry I get so for the next week I'm going to up my protein and see if that helps !

Wow pizza, I miss it! Glad you're enjoying being productive Flossie I did try cauliflower rice once, it was okay, but I decided I'd prefer to save my calories by eating smaller portions rather than lower carb, and it's worked out okay so far... But I'm open to new ideas so will check out that mushroom pizza now!

I really fancy the cauli pizza and the cauli cheese toastie I found on the web. But Mr Flytrap really didn't like the cauli rice and as he is chief cook this month, so I don't think we'll be having it.
I have used wraps to make very thin and crispy pizzas which Flytrap Junior loved - still a child at heart! I used one Weight Watchers wrap for me, as I need less kcal that the guys. They had standard wraps. I dry fried the wraps from frozen on both sides in a non stick sprayed pan. I added my pizza sauce (mine was a mixture of passata seasoned with a little tomato ketchup, salt and pepper) to the top of the second side of the wraps. Sprinkled some of the usual toppings, like some peppers, with chopped salami and olives, or my favourite which is anchovies, chilli and olives. I think I did a prawn one too. Just all the odds and ends from sandwich making that accumulate in the fridge and freezer by the end of the week. I then topped it with grated cheese including 10g of Parmesan for those who like it, or one notorious night I had to chop up some cheese slices! As that was the only meltable cheese to hand. Popped them under the grill, sliced and served with a big salad. Everyone loved them. It is a really quick way to do it, and one that the family can join in with each designing their own pizza. So it makes a very economical, satisfactory and fun way of getting a Friday night treat without wrecking your diet plans.
This method can be applied to pitta bread or even slices of bread if that is all that is available or people want a thicker base. But the trick either way is to warm up the bread or crisp it before you add the toppings. You can do the bread in the toaster if it fits. And you can pop the "pizzas" into a pre warmed oven to melt the cheese, if you want to serve a lot at the same time.
Can't stand cauli so no I've not tried it, but heard good things about it from those who have tried it! If I want pizza I use tortilla wraps as a base. Still get my fix but a lot less calories than a regular pizza base.
Just an idea, but when using cauli rice or courgetti etc, I put them 50:50 with my brown rice or wholemeal spaghetti/fettuccini etc. This way it fills me up with more fibre, tastes nicer and I don't really pick up on the fact that I have now halved the carbs and kcals within my starch serving. I do this when I have had a surprise treat and need to have another meal lower than usual. I also do it when planning my day to fit in a big treat later. So my pre fish & chip supper lunch might include one of these.
Do like the sound of that. I have tried butternut squash noodles but did not like the texture, maybe if I'd cooked them and mixed with pasta/noodles/rice I'm sure will taste betterπ
Courgette, carrot and thin slices of half an onion are the way I go for pasta/noodles. Think "stir fry". I only like butternut squash as chips or chunks. I have pinched some ideas from Jamie on this one. He didn't peel his. So now I wash and dry the skin. Chop through the equator of the squash for chunky slices, cut away the strings and seeds, but not too carefully as they are all edible and seem to mostly vanish in the cooking. Chop to chips or chunks. I then spread my portion over a plate and zap it in the microwave for 4 mins on the highest. If I have the oil left, I add a tsp or half a tsp to a non stick pan, if I haven't, I might use a fry light spray. I fry till at least 2 sides are crisp and eat them skins and all. Flytrap Junior doesn't like the skins so I cut his off after microwaving. I got through 3 peelers the week I started with the squash, so I avoid it now! With salt and vinegar, the chips fool me totally. The chunks are more like little roasties. If I want a chip/roasties equivalent, I want it now and this is the quickest recipe I could find/adapt.
