Hi Daz4077,

Welcome to the Weight Loss NHS community forum.  I hope you'll find the motivation your seeking here, it's a friendly and supportive place.

We have a Welcome Newbie post, which I'd like to give you the link for:

healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

Also, if you are interested in participating in the Monday group weigh-in - you could pop in and introduce yourself there if you wanted to join in, then the link is:

I'd recommend having a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as that is a really good structure and many of us have successfully lost weight using that plan.

Have a great week.

Lowcal :-)

Copied from Lowcals post, click on the link below and register your weight for today etc.

It is a good idea to measure yourself, all over, and take a photograph too and just watch those inches fall away as the weight drops:-) John

Hi, I have a problem too. I have just started using the Fitbit app on my phone. By using the food plan I can see where the calories are and try to stick to a lower number -admittedly mixed success yet but it helps to see where the calories are. Not sure if we can mention specific products, it is a free app though.

Morning 😊

I was advised that 5% weight loss will significantly improve your health, so this is perhaps a good aim 😊 Also find the right eating plan that you can stick to, for long term changes to eating habits 😊

I don't go to the gym either, prefer exercising on my own 😊or walking, Stair climbing, stretching, dancing, gardening are all ways to increase activity 😊

Good luck 😊

I think that's a good way of shifting the pounds.

I don't. I am putting more walks into my routine and have started the C25k again. I also use my exercise bike a bit. I am a primary school teacher, by the time I get home I am already late, need to make tea for the family, gym membership would be pointless for me at the moment 😊

I am loving my exercise bike 😊 very easy to sneak in a 10-15 minute workout before breakfast 😊 (Or bed in my husbands case)

Hi, I have only just joined also, a couple of weeks ago. I don't usually join forums etc. but find this quite supportive. For myself I have the slight advantage of an incentive. I have a friend's wedding in June and my daughter's wedding next year. Everyone finds their own thing that works for them. For some, it is putting a "fat" photo of themselves on the fridge, for others it is keeping an accurate food diary (this works for me). You will always find loads of tips and support here, so good luck and keep us informed of how you are doing, its good to share success' as well as the odd hiccough.

Welcome! I'm moving into my 3rd week and I've lost around 2.5 Kgs.

For me it is a day by day thing. I do the best I can each day. I've also become mindfull of my weaknesses. I love salt for one. I'm not much of a sugar person. Salt is so bad for one and can also make you gain weight.

I've become aware of how many calories there are in certain carbs and to lower my portions. I have changed my dinner plate. It is half the size. I still feel satisfied because visually it's quite full when I serve myself.

I've increased my veggies. Become aware of hidden sugars in certain foods, hidden fats, and of course salt.

I've also started looking at low cal low fat types of treats I can eat so I don't feel so left out at home.

Start moving around more, if that is okay by your doctor. Even short walks helps and make you feel so much better.

Good luck you will lose just take it day by day.

:)
