Hi and welcome to the forum and congratulations on your wee bundle
Are you breast feeding? As if you are I suggest you talk to your midwife / health visitor prior to starting to lose weight - none of us on here are in the medical profession.
Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), or in the drop down on the 'Posts' page (it says 'arrange by'). Read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you.
Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news.
Have a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as many people have had success with it. Also use the BMI checker nhs.uk/tools/pages/healthyw... to find your target calories, it's important to eat enough. This was a major turning point for me, realising I could eat anything I wanted as long as the calories are accounted for 😊
Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate 😊
To the right of the HOME page (bottom on a mobile), you'll find Events. In there, you'll find links to our daily Weigh-in's (you will choose just one day per week), our Daily Diary, where we post our menu and exercise plans, for accountability, advice and support - which is great to get ideas of what other people are eating and I have to confess to nicking some of their menu's and our “What's happening today” thread, where we pop in for a chat.
Be aware, that the HU app doesn't give you access to all of our important features, so we advise that you use the full website page
We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too 😊
I wish you all the best on your journey and hope to see you on here - remember in the early weeks of a new baby to make sure you rest and look after yourself as well as it's a very tiring but rewarding job being a mum
Morning Samoo
Welcome to the weight loss forum.
Take a look at the Welcome Newbie post in the Pinned post section at the right hand side or at the bottom if your on a mobile. Have a look at the nhs 12 week plan, many members have had success following this plan. Use the BMI checker to work out your daily calorie allowance.
Have a look at the Daily Diary which you can find on the Home page in Events. It is where all the members are sharing their daily plans on what they are eating and any exercise they are doing. This thread will give you some ideas on how to start.
Below the Pinned posts are the Topics where members share a range of weight related subjects.
Take your measurements at the start together with a photo so you can see the changes on the days the scales don't move.
We have daily weigh ins so why not come along and join us today. You can find the weigh ins on the Home page in the Events section on the right. Just click on the post in Events and record your start weight and any loss/gain or maintain for the week.
To get the most of the forum be active, share tips, recipes and experiences. Read some of the posts they are very motivating.
Have a good first week.

Congratulations on your baby! And your stretch marks too - they are a hard earned badge of motherhood, don't be ashamed of them.
Its very hard to make time for yourself with a new baby! You should see your midwife/GP/nurse before before starting a diet, but you could also consider just concentrating on eating healthily rather than necessarily dieting as such. It will benefit you both in the long run.
As a parent who didn't start losing that baby weight until her youngest was 9 (oops!) my top tip is NEVER start finishing up your kids leftovers! Just bin them. Its OK.
Wishing you all the best.
If you are breastfeeding, you may find that gives you a head start (and in any case will help to reduce your risk of ill health).... If you wanted to breastfeed, but have stopped, there is lots of support to help you relactate - there are four excellent charities in the UK providing qualified volunteer breastfeeding counsellor support (I do not mean 'peer supporters', lovely as they are), and they can also talk through the issues around active steps to lose weight whilst breastfeeding - which can be done. Some HVs and GPs have the skill and commitment to support you with this but not all by any means.
I hope you have really good family and friend support - practical so you are not exhausted and ending up without good food and every mother deserves people around her who tell her she is doing a fabulous job and her body has achieved great things, especially when you have doubts (not rubbishy 'advice'). It may be that you need to get out and find a supportive group if those close to you are not yet doing this. Doing your postnatal exercises will help you tone up. Make sure that you are wearing the right size bras, however you are feeding your baby - that can instantly make you look and feel slimmer... and more importantly comfortable.
Think carefully at this stage about whether you may need professional support with your feelings (GP and HV definitely good to take that) Be really kind in the way you talk to yourself. If you wouldn't say it to another person, don't say it to yourself.
Thanks a lot.
How to get information about qualified volunteer breastfeeding counsellor support ? And how can i access them?
