I have been a yoyo dieter all my adult life but have now been at my goal now for 6 months.

Well done for losing, you know about calories and healthy eating, so you just have to increase your intake a little so that you maintain.

I have a maintenance band at which I am happy originally this was between 55 and 57 kg, but I have now dropped it to 53 to 55 kg. I weigh in weekly on Lowcals Monday weigh in thread, I need this discipline, I can then take immediate action if I get near my upper limit.

Keep eating healthily as you did when losing but relax a little when eating out etc. Keep active.

I am about to go to Mauritius on holiday and plan to enjoy all the delicacies on offer, I will be mindful of calories in and out and hopefully when I return I will not be much more than 55kg, I will weigh in as soon as I return and if I have gained will go straight back to weight loss mode. In the past I have stopped the weigh ins and only when my clothes no longer feel comfortable have I discovered a gain of a stone or more.... Never again!

All the best, you should be very proud!

Thankyou, you should be proud too. Im going to croatia soon to visit family and this will be the first time i wont be scared to wear shorts or a swimsuit and to be seen in family photos. Hopefully wont gain much when im there as we tend to live on fresh produce! salad, veg etc. Thankyou for your advive its been very encouraging and helpful. Keep up the good work to and have a    brill holiday.

Hi Andrea7229,

Congratulations on achieving a loss of 3 stones over the past year, and being your ideal weight now.  That is fantastic!  Really well done.

I have just seen a series of articles written for a Huffington post edition about this very issue, but admit I've not had time to read the content of the articles yet - but you might find the link useful, as I know you are currently considering these very issues, so here is the link:

I hope you will let us know if any particular article is good or not, as it would be good to know if you found any particularly helpful.

I have been 'maintaining' a loss of 5.5 stone for the last year and a half to 2 years - but I'm still trying to get the final few pounds off, so my issues are different to your own - as you are still losing weight, and you'd like to ensure you 'maintain' without losing more.  So good luck!  Do let us know what you find helpful.
