I am calorie counting and am OK for breakfast and lunch . My problem is I have no one to stop me going to the fridge after my evening meal. Any suggestions of what to do

Many stones to loose
Hi Jellybean123,
Welcome to the forum. I'd recommend reading our Welcome Newbie post, which was compiled by Moreless and features many of the things that members are enjoying within the forum:
healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...
Please do join in anything you fancy - and I'd recommend trying the NHS 12 week plan, and you'll see the link to that early in Moreless's thread - or you could access it via the icon in the top middle of the screen, entitled 'Weight Loss NHS' - it's a great structure and full of information and advice to help you to lose weight.
Wishing you success and hope to see you around and about on the forum.

Hi Jellybean123.
You do have someone to stop you going to the fridge - you! What have you got in the fridge that tempts you? Is it possible to stop buying it so you're not tempted? Or how about planning for a small evening treat so you don't feel you're missing out? Are you actually hungry as in not consuming enough calories in the day? If so, increase your intake a bit so you're not hungry. It may be a habit, in which case try doing something different in the evenings. You may be bored and need to be doing something more interesting, or comfort eating after a hard day, or thirsty rather than hungry.
Without knowing what drives your fridge-raiding, it's hard to advise. Work out why you're doing it and take it from there. Hope this helps, and good luck
I have a big handwritten sign on my fridge a message to myself, choose your own threats ;). To be honest 11 days in I just open the fridge now and contemplate the array of fruit, veg and sugar free jellies and plan how low I can get the calories for the evening meal while still having all the essential nutrients in it. The seedy bread, butter/spreads/cheese is still in there but I don't even notice it anymore. The meat drawer has fresh fish and steak in it and the freezer is full of fish and veg plus cartons of cooked veg and soups I have made. My weakness was always cheese, I would snack on a slice of lancashire crumbly, not anymore I did not drink much alcohol but have cut that out entirely and am making sure I drink loads of fluid, mainly coffee and earl grey tea with skimmed milk.
Went a bit mad with the fruit order yesterday so am trying to force feed hubby with all the fruit he does not normally eat before it goes off He always has 1 apple and 2 pears each day, they are his snacks. Mine are the sugar free gum and sugar free jelly.
Exactly my problem too! I try too go to bed earlier and impose a food curfew, nothing after 7pm. I find it's being bored or tired...also all left over food like bread etc I put out for the wildlife before I get the butter out and eat it myself!
You can stop yourself. You have that power!
This is a difficult time for me too. I try to keep some extra calories vor post dinner cravings + I try to keep myself busy with something I can do whilst sitting watching tv...knitting, reading posts on thiis forum, even colouring book for grown ups! Good luck.
I'm the same. Like Jenever I have made it part of my daily calorie allowance. It's worse when I tried or bored and I trying to be busier and go to bed earlier. I find a milky drink is quite good because I sip it slowly and I feel full. Or eaw carrots are quite sweet, smaller ones are best. Hope you find something that works for you.
I agree with the other posters, save a few calories for an evening snack, and keep busy 😊 I also do a few stretches and gentle exercises to distract my self 😊 Good luck 😊
