Weight loss slowing up

I've lost 1.4 stone in the past 6 weeks, going to the gym 4 times a week and eating less calories. It seems to be slowing down in what I'm losing the last 2 weeks, only 1lb a week, but I have been ill this week and last week, and I assume that I will of gained muscle from the gym. Some websites say that you should have cheat meals to stop your metabolism slowing, and also vary how often you are active ie. Gym 3 times one week and 5 the next. What are people's experience in regards to this as I want to lose another 2 stone by Christmas.

Have you recalculated your calorie allowance now that you have lost so much weight? Well done by the way!

I'm not sure... My weight-loss is also slowing down but I am much closer to my goal, so I think that is normal...

I think it is a good idea to shake things up like you are saying - eat different things, do different types of exercise, increase your calorie intake to maintenance level for a week or two and then return to the reduced calorie intake...

Hiya

I think 1lb a week is great! Thats two packs of butter which is alot of fat.

Here are two articles that might help-

coachcalorie.com/high-weigh...

coachcalorie.com/cheat-day/

Im all for cheat days. I think 500 extra cals one day a week is a great break from the monotony, and according to the article can actually help you lose weight quicker!

All the best

One pound a week is an excellent loss, especially as you are exercising and laying down muscle. :-) you are losing a whole pound of FAT every week, that's really good. 18 lbs in 6 weeks is quite a quick loss and difficult to sustain. If you are still losing I would carry on as you are. Good luck :-)

Well done on your weight loss. I'd be over the moon if I had achieved that. It has taken me 5 months eating at the lower end of the calorie range to crack that first stone.

You've done really well losing over a stone in 6 weeks. Your weight loss will slow down after the first few weeks, as in early stages you lose water, which weighs heavy, as you use up your small store of glycogen. Once you've done that, you need to burn of 3500 cals to lose a pound of fat, and that will be the case right the way through your diet.

1lb a week is actually very good indeed. To lose more you;d need to decrease your calorie intake and increase your exercise. But think of losing a max of 2lbs a week, as this is about the limit of what is realistic. Manage your expectations and accept that the rate of loss slows down after the first few weeks. you;ve completed the sprint successfully - now comes the marathon!
