I need motivation to lose weight

So i am currently struggling with anxiety which makes me feel very low and some what depressed. I know the reason for the depression is my current weight and appearance. Im 25 and the heaviest ive ever been. I know what i must do, but im really struggling to motivate myself to start my diet abd exercise journey. I get the 'whats the point' feeling and some days my cravings for fatty foods is so high :( i will just feel really low then go eat a mcdonalds! Logic!

Just wondered if anyone could give me some tips on how to start motivating myself to shred this weight and get rid of this depression! Thank you :)

Hi and welcome to this lovely forum, being active on here will help so well done for starting your journey to a healthier and happier you ☺️

Do you manage to currently eat 3 meals a day? Is there a certain time in the day when you find yourself craving for more unhealthy options?

A good start is to find out your personal calorie range using the NHS BMI calculator nhs.uk/Tools/Pages/Healthyw... (found below your BMI score) then try logging what you eat into the free MyFitnessPal app. You can then get a better idea of what you might like to tweet.

There is also a massive amount of information on this forum as well as a fantastic group of very supportive people! You can do this 👍

Dear a new me

Sorry to hear you have been feeling down

I always feel better if I make an action plan So I know how I’m going to deal with the problem. I would suggest that you decide on which diet you’re going to follow and whatI exercise plan you’re going to follow in order to lose weight. If you have things mapped out they are more likely to happen rather than Just having a vague wish to lose weight

So, I would suggest this may be a way forward

1. Weigh yourself and check your BMI on hereAnd your daily calorie allowance Will enable you to lose weight

2. Measure your waist because often you may not lose weight on the scales but your waist will get smaller which shows that the internal flat has got less

3. Look at the menu plans on here and recipe suggestions and make a plan for the week. The more you know where you’re going the less likely you are going to get lost or trip up.

4. What are you going to do for extra activity? Walking is the cheapest and simplest. Can you aim to walk 10,000 steps today. You can track your walking on your mobile phone or if you feel flash by a Fitbit which will not only track you’re walking but also count your calories for you if you input what you have eaten.

Is there a Zumba class which would be fun and sociable near you? Any exercise is mood enhancing

5. How are you going to track calories and know the calorie content of food? There are loads of apps that will do it for you including my fitness pal which is free or as I said the Fitbit.

6. Buy a good cookbook which is full of tasty calorie counted recipes. I recommend the 8 week blood sugar diet Cookbook by Dr Claire Bailey which has lots of good and easy recipes which are on nutritious and tasty. You can buy it on Amazon

7. Try To get a regular sleep pattern by going to bed at the same time every day and try to get at least seven hours sleep.

Wishing you great success

I have the exact same mental issues! And have those down days too, I know how hard they are to get yourself out of!

Do it for yourself is the main thing. Maybe think of an event in the future that you’re looking forward too and want to look good for, Christmas is always a good one! So you look fab in the family photos!

Don’t stop yourself eating what you like, just do it in moderation.

Use the NHS BMI calculator and that will show you how many calories you can eat, preferably towards the higher amount so as you go onwards in your weight loss you can lower calories and still lose weight without it feeling like you’re eating nothing.

I’ve swapped white bread for brown and drinking loads of water!

Even if it’s just a brisk walk or doing step ups on your stairs a couple of times a day, the exercise will help as I didn’t do much myself before i started!

I hope this help! If I can help further drop me a message and I’ll try and do my best!

Good luck! :)

Take the action first and motivation will follow... a hlass of water, 5 mins walk, 3deep breaths.. see how you feel AFTER the action

Good luck
