Steaming floors this morning. Shopping this afternoon, for pleasure and food. DVD and girl time with my daughter tonight - Watching The Blind Side.
I only get 2 weekends off a month, so they are both hectic and a pleasure in equal measures. I am just off to take the dog for a walk as I have zoomed through the floor steaming. Will have lunch when I pick the daughter up from her part time job at WHSmiths, then off to Beverley for a mooch with a food shop from Waitrose on the way home. If I get chance, the dog will get another walk over the fields late on, then it's dinner and a tidy up before settling down for some quality mum and daughter time. No stinky boys to interupt the conversation ( except the dog - who truly is the stinkiest of boys, lol). Enjoy your day hun π
Got a bit enthusiastic with the walking part of the day...THREE hours of full on walking. Some in the rain. Feels good though. My babes are grown up now so the free taxi is less in demand.
It has been sweltering here all day, not good for me. I am very much an autumn/winter girl. The dog only got an hour today, the second walk has not materalised. He has put me in the doghouse. The food shop didn't get done either as my daughter and I just couldn't be bothered. Dinner has only just been eaten, so the popcorn isn't wanted. We have also decided to have fresh orange juice with lemonade instead of the wine. The DVD is still in it's case as we are doing a back to back catch up of the new series of Ripper Street.
Best laid plans hey, lol. I have managed to strip all the beds, wash, dry and remade them ( love the smell of line dried bedding), I have mowed the lawn and gathered, cooked down ready to freeze, apples, blackberries, pears and rhubarb, then pruned the bushes back.
I am now sat curled up with the dog ( who is giving me his best impression of owner neglect) waiting for daughter to join us on the sofa and start the marathon tv view.
If it's cooler tomorrow, the dog and I will be hitting the woods. It's a 3 mile walk to get there over the fields, so around a 10 mile trek all told. Glad you enjoyed your walk hun π
The blackberries have been frozen flat on a tray, now bagged. I will put them in smoothies, blitz with a little yoghurt to make a puree for ice cream or over bottomless cheesecake ( no biscuit base), oooh the list is endless. My apples are just peeled and chopped then cooked in the microwave for 10 minutes, tubbed up and frozen when cold as are the rhubarb and pears ( no liquid or anything else added until I defrost to use). So many uses. I also make chutney and jam from the last of the tomatoes and imperfect fruit, lol.
Heavens, I sound unbelievably domesticated!! ππ±
Sounds delicious, I think I am going to have to steal this menu for one of my days next week. I have never actually used fennel and I DO like locorice kind of tastes.
I had avocado, mint and fetta mashed together (sounds odd but its SO good!) and spread on a piece of rye toast with 2 poached eggs for brekky (350 cals), Thai beef salad for lunch and its a chicken and mushroom stirfry for dinner.
And its work as usual for me - its about 5:30 p.m. so only a few more hours and I can close up shop and get on home.
Hi Dave, nearly home time. Fennel tops have a very subtle taste to them and the fronds in the salad are very pretty. My daughter has avocado and feta mashed but uses oregano or basil as the herb of choice, she also bakes the avocado with an egg in the hole and sprinkled with smoked paprika. The thai beef salad sounds yum. Enjoy the rest of your day hun π
Try mashing chopped boiled egg and avocado and spreading that on toast, really delish too
Foodwise, not too sure yet. But I'm tempted by having roast veg, so we might have that and baked potato for dinner. Dorset museli + banana for brekky - bagel, egg and tomatoes for lunch.
Off for a walk in the woods with family and dog just now, some food shopping this afternoon and then I think we are taking the little one ten pin bowling - which apparently means I have to get on one of those dance machines with her for a dance off, so that'll be a few calories burned

Snap, dog being harnessed as I type, lol. I've whizzed through steaming the floors, so giving the dog and myself some exercise and fresh air over the fields. Have a great time bowling, hope you get some strikes. π
Hi Shellie,
Sounds fab can I come to stay ?? πππππ
Enjoy and have good week

You'd be very welcome Flossie. Mind, you would have to earn your keep lol. The floors are now steam cleaned, but how good are you at beating rugs? Or is your forte shampooing them? There are only the downstairs ones to do - 5 of them, should only take you a few hours, hehehe. The stairs upwards is carpeted so they just need a hoover.
You still interested in staying, lol? π

Hi Shellie,
I'm not built for beating rugs and I find a Hoover too technical lol
So I'll just stay here, but, you did inspire me to try something different. I have made a veg and lentil soup and for tea had a baked chicken breast with a chilli, garlic and tiny bit of bbq marinade served with a large salad and a thin wrap. Was really nice.
Have walked the dog, he's asleep and I'm on the couch( Geordie for sofa lol) watching a bit of Indiana Jones !! We live the high life !!
Some of these meals sound gorgeous! Also love feta and avocado - with chopped cherry tomatoes and a sprinkle of chili.
This morning early had a peach and a handful of nuts before dog walk.
Breakfast was 11.30 egg, quorn sausage, griddled tomatoes.
Just mowed the grass, it hadn't been done for two weeks and is tough and bumpy so that's a cheap workout - who needs the gym lol
Won't need lunch as late breakfast so tea will be around 5.30 baked salmon with lemon and herbs, baby leaf salad with yellow pepper, and baked sweet potato.
If I'm hungry in the evening I'll have a small bowl of milky porridge with some strawberries.
Don't know what the calorie count on that would be but its the sort of food that gives me good sustained energy.
Sounds a good menu to me hun, your salmon beats my cod in the health stakes too as it is an oily fish ( daughter enjoys salmon, I don't - hey ho). Cheaper the better for any kind of workout, especially free. Getting fit really needn't cost a penny if you don't want it too or are on a strict budget. Have a good weekend. π
Hope you had an excellent Saturday Shellie I'm making breakfast soon. Poached egg with baked beans and mashed potato squashed into a 'cake' to go under the egg, might add cherry tomatoes on the side (my bf will have extra toast with his). Then off on a bike ride down to the Red House in Bexleyheath. Realised it's within cycling distance from here, and we get a break halfway on the Woolwich ferry, so should be fun and achievable. Will take healthy snacks, bananas etc, and try to choose healthy stuff while out. Then its prob a rice, veg and chickpea based dinner when we get back. Looks like its going to rain so possibly taking our bikes back home by train. But if it doesn't we'll cycle, which will come to about 20miles altogether. Have a great Sunday and enjoy your well deserved wknd off
Your brekkie sounds yum, I have some leftover potato from doing the potato skins on Friday that need using. Think I will mix with some spring onion and make the potato cakes topped with a poached egg like yourself, will have some mushrooms with mine. Oooh I'm off...... suddenly very hungry, lol. Enjoy your day hun π
