Hi, just joined up today to see if I can get myself into the right mindset to lose some weight. I haven't got lots to lose but sometimes I think that's harder to accomplish but no doubt many of you will disagree with that!

HELLO, NEW MEMBER HERE!
Hi!
I don't think it's fair to disagree with you People find their own individuals goals equally difficult and shouldn't judge what is easy/hard for others.
I've got quite a lot to lose, which is my own personal challenge and I'm finding it terribly hard. But I know that losing a few pounds when you don't have much to lose can cause a bigger challenge in it's own way. Sometimes when you've got less to lose you have less bad habits to change, which makes progress a bit more difficult!
I'm sure you'll find lots of support on this forum regardless of how you need to lose
Good luck!
Thanks Kinbun
I want to get out of the cycle of knowing I'm eating something I shouldn't and then thinking 'I'll start again on Monday!'
I think it's good to have an "I'm doing this now" attitude. Even if u start or re-start in the middle of the day, or the middle of a piece of cake and throw the rest away! remember it's better to slip up and get over it, than let yourself spread it over the rest of the week until "magic Monday". You can do it!
I think 'doing the work now' is a great way to think of it aswell. I rarely feel like saying no to another slice of cake, or making a veg soup from scratch, but i just have to do these things despite how i feel about it! Im not going to feel like it next week either, lol.
Remember aswell that you dont have to be perfect. I used to be either on a perfect diet or binging on whatver, having given up cos the diet was too strict. But im trying now to find the 'middle way', with room for dark chocolate or butter on my veg or whatver. I dont want to be fat, but i dont want to live like a medieval monk either.
☺
Hi daviegirl
Welcome to the NHS Weight Loss Forum. It's a very friendly, encouraging and helpful site, where we are all on the same journey to health.
If you haven't already, please read the Welcome Newbies post. It's in the Pinned Posts section, to the right of your screen, (bottom if you're on a mobile). It has a link to the NHS 12 week plan, which is a great place to start. It doesn't give a specific diet plan, but gives guidelines for healthy eating. Also take a look at the Topics section beneath that, for posts that could answer any questions you may have. You may also like to check out how many calories you should have each day using the BMI checker.
Perhaps consider joining in our challenges, they're fun to do and help with motivation.
Join us for the Monday Group weigh-in. If you 'follow' Lowcal and moreless (our very approachable site Admins), you'll be notified when they post the threads. The latest weigh-in thread can always be found in the Events section, to the right of the home page. The weigh in is entirely voluntary, but I find it helps keep me accountable.
Be active on the forum, as that's where we exchange ideas and get our daily dose of motivation and inspiration. 😄
Enjoy the forum, and I wish you success with your goals.
Good luck 😀
