Joining this site is a great start. You will find everyone very supportive. Will you be following the 12week NHS plan? I've found it really helpful in keeping me on track. In fact I've lost more than 14kg in the last 12 weeks and am continuing into week 13.
My advice is keep a check on your calories and portion sizes. I use myfitnesspal app to keep my calorie count. I'd suggest setting small achievable targets. Don't ban any foods you just crave them more! It helps me to keep a calorie count if I plan my meals ahead of time.
