I'm feeling good in myself, but people don't seem to get that I'm on a diet. My parents in particular, the ones who advised me to start the diet, keep offering me food! I keep saying no, but it's definitely difficult when they don't get the message!

Be strong. Keep reiterating your plan. Good luck.

People do that to see if you are serious. Just show them you are. You could always sneeze over the food they are offering and still refuse. Hee Hee. That should put them off! :(

I find that once you say phrases aloud like I don't fancy that thanks, or I'm not hungry now, you find you're sort of committed, and its a sort of conversation closer. Maybe people who know you best just need time to adapt? And just need politely reminding? Try a few different methods, have phrases planned, try to plan ahead when people will try to tempt you. Lots of luck :)

Thanks guys, I'll definitely try the phrase thing!

Great idea from Canal Runner - going to try those phrases myself. I always sound so apologetic - 'Sorry, I'm on a diet' and then so called supporters try to persuade me to try a little. Hope this works for you too EllieMC95 - and best of luck on your journey.

tell them its annoying you!

We all want everyone to support us in our ventures, but most people don't know how to.

One thing I've done is tell them what I need them to do eg. actively encourage, join you in some of the healthier meals, go on walks with you. Another is telling them how you feel, eg. telling them that the offering of food is making you feel unsupported.

I've found doing the opposite - telling them not to do things makes them feel that they are doing things wrong and it makes them just as frustrated as we feel.

They do want to help - they just don't know how :)

I had a chat with them, they seemed to get it. Dint think they realised I'm doing this seriously!
