Don't be discouraged ! Start slow but steady and you will feel much better soon! I started a diet or a new fresh way to eat , also ! 120Kilos and 1.75 Height! Toooo much but I know I can do it as you can also! Smile and be optimistic !!

Its funny how it can be lost so efficiently when you really want to like me and my 50th I also lost 4 stone but then let it creep back on.

I remember I was with slimming world and the consultant said the same thing but its day to day and making your self the healthiest to be happy possitive and enjoy life as much as you can.

I started before Christmas properly and managed to get a stone off but a bit cross to gain some back , then I look at all those around me and realised that although they don't have weight issue's Im sure they will have gained a few pounds !! I think the main issue is getting that possitivity back again and getting our heads in the right place alongside good nutritious food and exercise !

30 lengths swimming yesterday and didn't it feel good 😀😀

I'm there and you can be too

Good Luck x

Can I just say how lovely you look in your photo, not at all whale like. You need to reboot your mind and start week 1 of the NHS 12 week challenge. Why not jump on the alcohol free party bus during January as well? Xx

Hi Slimpickings ,a lot of my weight is on my tummy which doesn't show very much on that photo ! To be honest I'm not a drinker only occasionally,it's chocolate and cakes that is my downfall ,I've decided I'm going to stop buying them in ,and pretending they are for the family when really they are for me ! Lol x good luck to u !

Well, you can pledge to give up other things if you don't drink. If everyone shoves up a bit there's room for one more!! Xx

Hi and welcome to this friendly forum.

I found after having so many attempts and failing that the 12 week plan really educates you into wanting to find out more about foods, what's in them and their calorific value. You can download week 1 if you wish to follow it or SW, WW or indeed whatever programme you wish but the 12 week one worked for me.

Lots of advice already given so just to say if I can do this so can you this is your year for change, a.low it to happen and a fitter, healthier, more xo ride to you will emerge.

Best wishes Bev 😊👍

Thanks Bev ,think calorie counting works best for me , but I will look at the NHS diet , I think best way is planning and for me avoid buying choc and cakes in x

Yes planning definitely you have to count calories with the plan but take a look it may suit you or you might prefer other methods.

Hi Linda,

It's not easy is it? I'm a bit like you in as much as the more weight I put on the less I want to go out or socialise, it's all down to confidence I guess. I lost 3+ stone in 2015 but after a very difficult 2016 I've gradually gained just over 2 stone so I'm back on the healthy eating trail.

You've been super successful in the past so clearly you know what to do it's just getting started. I found trying on all those lovely clothes I have hanging in my wardrobe & the stark and depressing reality that they are all too small was what gave me the kick up the bum I needed to get myself sorted out. I totally refuse to buy bigger clothes so currently wearing the same few outfits. Just check out all those lovely summer clothes you already have, then take a look around the shops at all the new spring & summer dresses, I bet you'll be inspired to get yourself back in shape.

Good luck & best wishes to you.

You certainly should be going out - honestly you look great !! You must get your mindset right, start tomorrow ! One day at a time. Easy stuff like omelette for breakfast or dinner. Put chocolate in the freezer first thing, then choose proteins for the day and keep doing it for a week, then weigh. Go out and have a little walk tomorrow - you'll feel better for it, I guarantee. Difficult to avoid chocolate at Christmas I know.

I think you could get control over the chocolate by deciding how much you could eat alongside a stricter diet. If that is your love then tighten up on other parts of the diet and put your allowance out so you can enjoy them and know you are still within your calorie allowance. With your determination you might have the best of both worlds!

Hi Linda.

Don't be hard on yourself. You have lost your weight before so you can definatly do it again.

In my own journey I found starting small works wonders and helps the weight stay off.

I'd say firstly don't "diet" but eat the things you like in proportion.

You can eat chocolate and still lose weight. Personally I only managed 2.6 stone last year but it seems to be stating away.

I use a food logging app, which helps me record the calories and which type. (Fat, carbs, protein), then I cook my meals based on that info. Also a good thing to remember weight loss only happens when their is a calorific deficit. Getting off the bus stop early/ parking further away when shopping etc. Little things like this all help.

As has been said start small but also do things you enjoy. And I wouldn't get too hung up on the scales either. They are ok for a baseline but photos. Or how you feel in yourself are better indicators.

Good luck in your journey, and if you need some support or help starting an exercise plan. Give me a shout.
