Hi there, decided to join this page to hopefully get hints/tips from others in same situation. I have just started to try and diet at home - mainly by cutting out crisps, chocolate, biscuits etc and started off really well in the first week - losing 3 lbs - now into my second week and seem to have come to a standstill! Any advice appreciated

Hello there and welcome. This is a good place to get help, advice and encouragement when you're trying to lose weight. Have you looked at the NHS 12 week plan? I'm a great fan of this healthy eating plan (don't like the idea of diet) and I'm just coming to the end of week 11, last time I weighed myself I'd lost just over 1 & 1/2 stone. Hope you find a plan that suits you.
Hi Pyemonty,
Welcome to the forum, and well done for losing 3 pounds in your first week. I would also recommend taking a look at the NHS 12 week structured plan, suggested by Jenever - the link to that plan is here:
nhs.uk/Livewell/weight-loss...
It's really well structured and offers lots of useful advice and information. Definitely worth a look.
Weight loss can vary week to week, as there are many factors that can influence it - like how much salt we've eaten, or our hormones etc, so don't be disheartened if you sometimes find you've 'stopped' losing - keep going to achieve an overall downward trend over time.
Wishing you a great weekend and a good week ahead.

As the others have said take a look at the 12 week plan, it is really suiting me. Use the BMI calculator on the NHS website or on myfitness pal app to see suggested calorie range, the NHS seems to always suggest a higher amount so I would suggest a compromise between the two. My main problem was portion size, so watch your portion control.youve made a very good start with your 3lbs loss.Well done.
Well done on losing 3lbs on your own, like the others say the nhs plan is good , if you eat less calories than you need and if you can move a bit more as well that will be a help to help you lose, if you can? Walking is a great way to start, good luck and keep logging on here for motivation!👍
