Went for my assessment yesterday, accepted onto course, waiting to start with dietician and physio. Downloaded week one anyway and started straight away. Wanted bariatric surgery but have to fulfil criteria by attending this course. Would love to do it without surgery will have to wait and see

Hi cariboo

Welcome to this site - you will find lots of support and many people who understand exactly what you are going through.

You will also get the real practical guidance you need from the physio and dietician.

You have made a start to changing your life and that is really exciting. It will not be easy but the rewards will be enormous - not least that you will get your health back. Making small changes can make a huge difference - trying the NHS 12 week programme as a first step will give you really good advice on that. This is not a diet it is a change of lifestyle - it has helped me lose over 2 stone and I have never felt better.

Good luck and keep posting!

My step daughter had a gastric band three years ago and as of today she has put it all on again plus more! If you can do it without surgery then you are a winner.

You have a lot of support here and if you want the weight loss badly enough then you WILL do it!

Paul McKenna, the hypnotist also has a book called "Hypnotic Gastric Band". I haven't tried it but I have read it! Good luck.

Hello Caroboo and welcome to this group. It's always difficult to make big changes in your life, losing weight is difficult because it's not a quick fix it takes time and a lot of effort and self discipline. You've already taken a significant step towards changing your lifestyle by starting the NHS 12 week diet (I'm a big fan). Everyone who uses this site has weight to lose, we all understand and can empathise with each other when we're feeling frustrated or de-motivated on days when things are not going quite as planned. I have no doubt you will get all the help and support you need here. I wish you all the very best in your lifestyle changes and look forward to reading your success story over the coming weeks.

You will find lots of support and advice on here, really great group of people. The nhs 12 week plan is a great place to start, and fits around any lifestyle. Take it one day at a time and you will succeed. If you can do it without surgery that will be whats best really. Best advice i can give is to break it down into smaller weight loss targets, and not to beat yourself up if you have a slip up, learn from it and get back on track. All the best

Hi caroboo. You should find lots of inspiration, advice and support here.

I have a lot to lose 10+ stone and it is a long road but I am trying to see it as a lifestyle change rather than a diet. I am 3lb from a 2 stone loss and very pleased with the progress I am making.

Hopefully you will be able to find a lot of support here and from the dietician etc. There are a few forums online about weight loss surgery which you may find helpful. I suspect it would be better for you if you can lose weight without surgery but at least it looks like you will have the choice.

Good luck and less us know how you progress and make sure you check how many calories you should be eating to lose weight so you don't eat too little.

I'm getting bored writing this

Search [ is sugar toxic ] / [Fat or sugar ] [Dietdoctor} etc.

You can almmost certainly avoid surgery once you know what is good food and what is poison (sorry, I meant sugar).
