Hi guys,
I have just downloaded the NHS 12 week diet plan in order to help me loose weight! I have a huge 9 stone to loose but this needs to be done to help me with my PCOS condition.
Any advice would be great!

Hi Amy. Well done for having the courage to join us. You will get all of the help and support here so welcome.
I would suggest that you forget the 9 stone for now and focus on taking small achievable steps. I started out at 18st 4.5lbs so I focused on that 4.5lbs and just getting into the 17's. Once that was done I headed for 17st 11.5lbs which was half a stone, then 17st 4.5lbs and so on. At no stage did I ever think I want to lose X amount or be X weight because whatever I did it had to be in small steps and achievable for me so that I didn't lose the will to continue.
Think of something that you could treat yourself with after losing the first stone, such as having your nails done or a facial so you never lose focus. Oh yes, and be honest with yourself and follow "My fitness Pal" for charting your food intake and exercise. Recognise that you will need to address "snacking", eating out etc to cover all eventualities!
Look out for Lowcals's weekly weigh in on a Monday morning and join us. Everyone is so very welcome and Lowcal replies to everyone personally plus others will as. We all support and courage each other which certainly gave me the will to carry on.
Good luck Amy and don't forget that if you want it badly enough you will do it. Now go get it! X
Hi,
Thank you so much for such a positive comment! I have been to my first appointment with the Gynecologist today and she is referring me to a dietitian so hopefully that will give me some extra support!
I have properly started today as my weight, height and BMI was logged. My BMI is currently 38 and needs to get down to at least 25. So it begins...
I am feeling really positive and have had a good day so far! I think I will join the Lowcal weight in page too, thanks for that information !
Once again thank you so much for commenting I really appreciate it!

I've found small swaps really helpful. I now have lots of skimmed milk and zero fat natural yoghurt. I use the yoghurt whenever I would have used cream or mayonnaise and sometimes even where I would have had cheese or butter. Also doing lots of home cooking as you can see what actually goes into your food and avoid all the hidden fats and sugars eating out or in ready meals.
Well done for taking this step and wishing you lots of luck. You'll feel great as it all comes off

Hey, congratulations on joining us I'm kinda new to this as I did start the nhs plan a few months back but gave up due to a week of slipping. I agree with both comments above but also...find the motivation to carry on, if you have a bad day or hell a bad week find the strength to say to yourself right that was that but from THIS MOMENT I am going back on track. With me when I had a bad day I kept saying "I'll start fresh next week" next week came and went, then I starting saying "I'll start tomorrow" again same thing happened... It took me 3 months to say "right I'm starting now" this was at 7pm after pigging out all day but I did it and it worked for me so find that strength and if you can't come on here, everyone here are trying to achieve similar goals and everyone supports everyone... don't do a me and hide away haha
Good Luck x
Thank you so much! Well done for starting it back up again! I am really happy so far with the positive comments and support I have had on here and its not even been a week yet! It is my first day today
I think this website will really help me with my motivation as you said we are all like minded people with the same sort of goals!

Good luck, Amy, there are several ladies on here who have PCOS.
This is one of the recent posts, talking about cutting down on carbohydrates, especially sugar.
Hi Amyrosem12, just reading through your post, hope you are doing well with the weight loss - i have just started and also have PCOS, was wondering if you could tell us how much you have lost in the last 5 years, any tips would be much appreciated also.
